Stillpoint component stand with Verity Parsifals
I am still trying to figure how I would set up a stand under my speaker on carpet. Would I just put four mini inverted risers on the carpet and place the stand on it?
Which Modwright 36.5 owner can help me out?
Thanks - you answered my question. I cannot use the 36.5 for this application and would need to use the HT bypass instead. I can do the integration trick with an Aesthetix and a BAT, so I'll have to decide which way I want to go.
Kef 205/2
I never used them but Nordosts have a reputation for being fast and transparent but on the lean side, so cabling may be a good place to look for improvement. If someone had told me this 2 months ago (before I exprienced it myself), I would thought ...
Can these speakers handle Neil Young's Le Noise?
Forgot treble. The la noise 2 channel blu ray disc has the most ridiculous amount of bass on any disc I own. I guess it is harder to blow up a JL113 sub than a tweeter though. If you are in the market for a 30K speaker and listen to a lot of acoust...
PS Audio Power Plant Premier Power Cables
Thanks for reminding me. Have not gotten around to it yet. Too busy playing around with my new transparent audio ICs and speaker cables. Will give it a try soon.

Airegin, you closed the Oud - Bandoneon loop for me. along with Anouar Brahem, one of my greatest musical discoveries of the last decade is Richard Galliano on Accordeon/Bandoneon. I like his playing better than Piazolla (Galliano plays quite a fe...

If we are going to throw vocalist into the mix, the one to listen to is Hamza El Din - a Nubian Oud player / vocalist. He has performed on stage with the Grateful dead, but released some very authentic albums.
Where do I go from Eva Cassidy?
Eva Cassidy is a unique combination of (A) the purity of tone and vocal technique of an R&B diva (think pre-crash Whitney Houston), the (B) song interpretation and phrasing of a Jazz singer (think Patrica Barber), and the (C) emotional sensibi...

Unfortuntaley, 96/24 is all 2 channel, which to me is a marginal improvement (as is 2 channel SACD). Multi channel SACD takes things to a whole different level in my experience. No such think available on ECM.

The only complaint I can lodge against ECM is that unlike "audiophile" labels like Chesky, they never got into SACD. Commercially probably a sensible decision, but an infinite regret to me.My taste has evolved too, but there are some very timeless...

Madfloyd, I just ordered this disc on amazon marketplace myself. Do a search for: Gurdjieff, Tsabropoulos: Chants, Hymns and Dances I bought from the reliable "moviemars-cd" site.
Looking for a pre/processor
The problem is that a HDMI capable Pre/Pro which has the same caliber DAC as the benchmark and Bel canto pre cannot be had for $2500.You currently own say $2K worth of 2 channel DAC / Preamp in two boxes, and you want to buy a single box that does...

The third giant of the Oud (and guitar) worth mentioning is Thierry Robin. I never quite got into him as much as Brahem and Abou Khalil, but he does oriental / world fusion, and his best known album "Gitane" earned 4.5 starts on allmusic.com. Wort...

I pretty much own every Brahem and Abou Khalil album so let me chime in.Rabih Abou Khalil has a lot of different albums out, which can be generally loosely described as oriental / jazz fusion. Oriental melodic and rhytmic signature (I am not a mus...

Argyro, I had not noticed your Anouar Brahem recommendation. If you appreciate his music, you should also give a listen to Rabih Abou-Khalil, another master of the oud. Start with the album Al-Jadida. You will not be disappointed!
