Tact 2.2XP for room correction "proof of concept"
Kal, I plan to do this by taking out my SVS Bass EQ unit and my external analog crossover, and get a Tact 2.2XP unit (digital in/out version) to do my cross-over filtering and room EQ - all in the digital domain. I will still use 2 external DACs; ...
Tact 2.2XP for room correction "proof of concept"
Marty, I am using the SVS Sub EQ unit which is similar to the Velodine. Problem is my mains run at full range through an all analog signal path, while the subs go through an A/D/A conversion. I have a suspicion the resulting time delay differences...
Which surround algorithm is better?
I do agree that the genre that benefits most from surround is classical orchestral music. The good news is there is a very good selection of multi channel SACD recordings of the majority of the major orchestral classical compositions. So rather th...
Which surround algorithm is better?
I never heard any that I liked in the digital domain, but I had a McCormack MAP 1 multi channel anlog preamp that has so called Ambience Retrieval Mode (ARM) which works like a charm. The Conrad JOhnson MET1 has the same feature.
incorporate 2 channel amp into multichannel system
The only issue with that approach is that "mid level" may be too much attenuation. If 12 O'clock is say -20db, then you would have to crank up the mains by 20db on the SSP channel trim settings, which may be out of range. If you take your approach...
incorporate 2 channel amp into multichannel system
No. First you need to get a multi channel setup disc. Next you play it in multi channel player connected to your SSP. Then you calibrate your channels individually, using the channel trim feature on your SSP. You could do this by setting your cent...
Worlds best DAC
The new PS Audio perfectwave DAC performs best in non- upsampling ("native") mode. The new MKII upgrade has some innovative circuitry on a new digital processing board, involving changes in the powersupplies, and replacement of CMOS switching for ...
Ripping SACD vs regular CD
The SACD layer can be ripped using a PS3 with old firmware and some proprietary program. See this link: http://code.google.com/p/sacd-ripper/ You can then convert DSD to high rez PCM if your DAC is not DSD capable. More trouble than it's worth in ...
2 channel priority in HT Processor...who's is best
Siox, you're right on the money. But since the DAC in the SSP is as least as much of a compromise as the preamp, Loren is better of getting either a DAC with preamp as I suggested, or even just an outboard DAC and use the Pass preamp as an HT bypa...
incorporate 2 channel amp into multichannel system
Minkwelder is almost correct with one caveat. You need to trim channels levels on the receiver (using an SPL meter), based on the volume setting on the line input on the Creek. if a 12:00 setting represents say -20 db, you would have to offset by ...

2 channel priority in HT Processor...who's is best
Loren, if you insist on a one box solution, want to keep this below 10k and don't mind a few trips to the Fedex office, you could get the Theta CBIII with 2 x extreme cards this is listed for 6K and get it upgraded to HDMI (street price for the up...
2 channel priority in HT Processor...who's is best
Loren, if you are a music guy and SQ for movies is a seondary concern, in my opinion getting the best SSP you can afford is not the best way to spend your money. You are better of with a two box approach. So first you get a very competent SSP in t...
Looking for way to get good audio from netflix
On a related note. Does netflix stream Dolby surround yet? I know thas has been in the works for some time.
Where stands the music of Chet Baker with you?
Love pretty much all his music, singing and playing. I even took singing lessons back in the days, learned the jazz classics and tried to sound like him. Bit less into him now that I have shacken off the existentialist blues of my 20s, have two ki...
