What high-end multichannel SACD players are there?
For HDMI output, the Oppo 93 is equivalent to the 95. If you do not need the Blu Ray, you can get a Sony XA5400. According to Kal marginally better than the Oppo on HDMI out. Oppo converts SACD / DSD at 88/24 PCM. Very expensive (oppo based) Ayre ...
What high-end multichannel SACD players are there?
I presume you are looking at MCH analog outs. The alternitive is to get a SACD player with HDMI out and run into a processor. Oppo 93 / 95 will give you both options (MCH analog and HDMI out). For MCH analog there is an upgrade to the Oppo 93 that...
How are Hig-End Speakers Priced?
For a pair of $25,000 avalons, this is my estimate:Components (electronics and cabinets)(at manufacturers cost): 10%Labor: 10%R&D: 10%Marketing & overhead: 10%Dealer margin" 40%EBITDA margin: 20%Very depressing: $2,500 worth of components ...
What's up with all those clocks
It would just be an alternative architecture - you'd have a pace-car, an offramp with no internal clock and a downstream DAC / processor. The pace-car would provide the clock for both the offramp and the downstream DAC / processor. May be the bene...
What's up with all those clocks
Of course, a little research goes a long way - The hiFace EVO has all the features I need (external clock), AES/EBU out and is cheap. Wonder if the hiface + external clock would best a higher grade converter like the offramp, without ability to sy...
What's up with all those clocks
If you wanted to go all out you could get the Zodiac Gold as a USB converter. This has USB in, AES/EBU out, and an external clock input. Throw in a $5K antelope atomic clock and you're in business. You can then use a reclocker on the Trinnov and t...
What's up with all those clocks
Thanks guys. I guess its back to trial and error. Keeps me busy and is part of the fun.
What's up with all those clocks
I will be using NativeX since this is the best sounding mode. I'm still a bit confused about the impact of jitter upstream. For example, if the input signal into the Trinnov has high jitter (say I use a poor USB converter), the DSP processes this ...
Mach2Music mini and Amarra : Huge disappointment
I have a few hunderd hours on the MKII board and it is absolutely amazing. I would not be surprised if it creams the DCS, but only a proper shootout will tell. If the turn-key PS audio silent server delivers the goods, in theory you should have a ...
Best 2 Channel SACD with Analog Outs
I used to have a Sony XA5400 feeding HDMI to an Onkyo SSP, and found the Onkyo analog bypass to be the weakest link, not the Sony analog outs. Since you are using an Receiver not a SSP, I don't think you can use a 2 channel pre with HT bypass. But...
Tact 2.2XP for room correction "proof of concept"
The Diva has no digital in/out so it does not meet my requirements.
Album which you have listened to most?
Without a doubt Keith Jarrett's Koln Concert. From vinyl, to CD and now on 96/24 flac. I keep coming back to this album, in particular part III.
PASS LABS XP20 or MODWRIGHT LS 36.5 DM
For what it is worth, I tried a Pass XP10 with my class A monoblocks, and send it straight back. I then bought the Modwright 36.5 LS/PS, liked it much better and kept it. Not sure how things will work out in your system, but it is a big leap of fa...
Tact 2.2XP for room correction "proof of concept"
Thanks - I checked and the Trinnov ST2 and the DEQX HPD-3 look very intriguing. I need a bit more looking into functionality and specs, but I may cast the net wider and pick up the first reasonably priced unit of any of these three contenders that...
Tact 2.2XP for room correction "proof of concept"
Too bad indeed, alhhough I have had good luck picking up used stuff on audiogon and resell without a loss for these type of expiriments. I'll keep my eyes open, and if all else fails I may even get a new one (at a healthy discount) and just take t...
