Some thoughts on dust covers @wyoboy Using a feather duster on occasion isn't a PITA at all. It literally takes less than a minute every once in a while. Managing a big acrylic dustcover most certainly is a PITA. I previously had a Clearaudio Ovation with a single 9" arm, a...
Some thoughts on dust covers @wyoboy I don't need a dustcover, nor do I even want a dustcover. Whether it's $120 or $350 it won't make a difference for anything anyway, IMO. But as I mentioned earlier it's also impractical for me. There is really no way I can site one on my...
What are you using to clean LP album covers? I don’t bother. If it’s a new record I wrap it in a Sleeve City 5mil outer as soon as I remove the factory shrink wrap. If it’s used I just leave it as is and put it in an outer sleeve.
Some thoughts on dust covers I think for all those who think using a dustcover is a panacea, turn out the lights and cast a UV light on the playing surface and tell me it's dust free. [hint: it isn't] A lot of high end tables (like mine) don't really even support using a dus...
Some thoughts on dust covers @elliottbnewcombjr I use a center weight and peripheral ring on my Clearaudio Innovation and they work quite well. However, the turntable is designed for them I also use Clearaudio's versions so they fit and do the job perfectly.
Some thoughts on dust covers I have a Clearaudio Innovation with two tonearms so a dustcover is out of the question anyway. It would be expensive to have one made, and impractical and cumbersome to use when the TT isn’t in use. I just don’t bother covering it with anything. I...
What devices have you found useful when inspecting your stylii for cleanliness? I have a handheld 60x scope with an integrated LED lamp. I think I paid about $12-15 for it on Amazon and recently had to replace the little cell batteries, but it does the job just fine.
Looking for a new phon cartridge @noromance @kennyc Any Koetsu will have to be NOS or used. The builder died and the company closed operations.
Looking for a new phon cartridge If you find a LOMC cartridge too hot or too bright, maybe the real problem is phono-stage loading. Trying increasing that (i.e. lower resistive values). I have Lyra Atlas and DV XVX-1s cartridges and I can definitely make them sound overly bright...
Air Tight Opus 1........ @ckr1969 I also have the Atlas Lambda Mono. The SL is similar sound signature and performance.
Air Tight Opus 1........ Would be curious how it stacks up to my Lyra Altas Lambda SL for about the same price. Not that I plan to make a change anytime soon or ever. Everything you describe about it matches how I described my Lyra after I first started using it.
What is the first thing you do when you unwrap a new vinyl record? Clean it (Degritter Mk II, DW only), give it a fresh inner sleeve and a 5mil outer sleeve (for single/gatefold LPs), then I play it, and within a few days I catalog it.
What Holiday Gifts did you ask for or Give to Yourself? With all this talk about cars, ...my wife told me the other night she thinks I should get myself a Porsche Macan GTS. I would love to but I just don't drive enough to justify it. I put more miles (about 6000) on my bicycles every year than on my c...
What Holiday Gifts did you ask for or Give to Yourself? I'm giving myself a Boulder 1108 phono-stage to replace a Naim Superline/Supercap I have now. It won't arrive until January though.
Clearaudio Clarify Help Needed! @dover Thank you for making that correction about Clarify VTF adjustment. I noticed it was wrong but no longer have that arm and haven’t for some time, so let it go. The Clarify, Magnify, Universal (and Tracer I think) all adjust VTF using the kn... |
