Turntable
I've heard this said on AGon before: "If you don't have LOTS of vinyl to start with, don't get a turntable". Seriously, digital is so good now and it's only getting better. Myself? I just hate having to get up every twenty minutes to flip the reco...
How do you rationalize audio upgrades?
The argument many use is "can I buy this" instead of "should I buy this". I wasted baskets of money (that I could be using now in retirement). The system I have now is everything I wanted so I can't complain. The components I have didn't exist 30 ...
Each recording has one right volume level.
I've always said that it would be a simple matter for the record company to include a "calibration track". Using an app, you would play the CT (e.g. a 1000k test tone) and adjust your system volume to match what is specified on the album jacket. I...
Are you buying the right interconnects ?
If this is so critical, why don't speaker makers put this info on the back of their speakers? They just don't give-a-darn if you use the wrong cables and their speakers sound like crap?

Should I get an SL-1200G
I was looking at the 1500c last week, For a few hundred more you get some really neat features in the next model up (1200GR?).
What is this?
It could be a cartridge demagnetizer. These were popular in the 90's but haven't seen them lately. That's my guess. BTW, if you don't have the manual, just throw away...

Headphone King of Soundstage?
"Cross Feed". Isn’t this what the new Polk "Legend" speaker does? Also, there is (was?) a technology called MARS (McShane Ambience Retrieval System) that did the same thing. As for soundstage, sound goes into those holes on the sides of your head ...

My usual response would be something from KEF. The new Wharfedale Linton's look really interesting too (if not too big). They would have satisfying bass I would imagine.

Klipsch K-Horns or Cornwall IVs. Or, with your budget, Something from Volti Audio.
Krell FPB 600 = to what new amp today.
Having used the humble (only 300 watts+/ch @ 8 ohms) Bryston 4B3 in my current system, I didn’t think it sounded "thin" in any way (Used full range w/ Mac C22 preamp -probably your speaker wire). Also, The bass I got from twin 6.5 inch woofers (B&...
Krell FPB 600 = to what new amp today.
Probably some big monos (Bryston, BAT, Krell, etc.).
Any of you own a classic Modern Stereo Console?
The best consoles were (are?) made by Grundig.
