Buying from Japan...Accuphase or Luxman what are the costs ? import duties etc
Make sure you specify a U.S. model (110 volts) and not Japanese (100 volts) otherwise you'll need an external step-down transformer.

Not sure if it has a built-in DAC but this is my goto amp for casual listening. Outstanding sound and usually in the $150 range (I've owned 3 over the years). Sony STR-DA1000ES Receiver - Plenty on Ebay

Check your interconnects and speaker wire first. One of my XLR ICs had a cracked solder joint resulting in volume drop. Try switching R to L and see what happens.

Building a dedicated listening room
The trend these days seems to be going wireless. My priority would be having electrical outlets close to the ceiling because wireless (surround) speakers still need A/C, and nothing worse than A/C wires running up the wall from low outlets. Also,...

My advice is: Make sure your Cornwalls are wired correctly internally. One of my new Fortes was wired out-of-phase.
