I've noticed myself laughing more and more after reading the prices these days of new equipment in the magazines.   
Why isn't better quality used gear being made available?
Try using a "Wanted" ad. Might inspire a possessor to let unused equipment go.

That Atmasphere created some SOTA Class-D amps (that people love) blew me away. Wish I could audition them.

As a former Programmer/Analyst, I agree that this platform is rather primitive. I also think Facebook, YouTube and others are equally lacking. As I can do nothing about it, I try to enjoy what is there.

Play some music you know that has good bass (make sure your speaker cables are connected correctly). Flip the switch and listen for any change to the bass. whichever position has the most bass is the correct polarity.

Haven't you heard about "Riding the Remote"? The loud passages are few and far between. Turn up the volume and enjoy -just be ready with the volume control when the crescendos happen. Regards

OP: The volume you use for playback can affect the perceived detail. Classical music has a wider dynamic range than Pop/Rock. Try increasing your normal volume and see if this helps. Example: Reference Recordings digital (wide dynamic range) must ...
