Best of the AMperex 6DJ8/6922 Tubes 7308 Amprex PQ's steel pins are nearly as nice as seimens gold pins in my first sound pre, detailed, lush but take a long break in period. they are also less money...
Siemens -Halske 6922 I agree with the bugle boy suggestion, Mullard e88cc or what I find to be neutral is gold pins telefunken e88cc these will not be bright and will last a lifetime. If you do not find a resonable price on the tubes you want feel free to contact me, ...
Siemens -Halske 6922 One of my favorite tubes I rotate these in my pre and phono, not a warm tube but very detailed top to bottom tends to move soundstage frontward. If your system leans to brightness may want to look other NOS optionsDennis
Anyone heard Underwood level1 3910 mod? What I have found in 6922 tube rolling is that siemens top to bottom are the most detailed, telefunken the most neutral, amprex very nice mids and base, mullards are a warm tube if your system tends to be bright a good option but perhaps not as de...
Need an Entry Level Phono Preamp I am listening to a Jolida JD 9 with level 1 mods from Underwood HIFI which is suprisingly good for the money. I would look in that direction
The under 10K speaker After auditioning many of the above speakers I went with the Tyler Woodmere,s. If your room will handle their size they are hard to beat. I think he has a used pair for sale now on audiogon.P.S. you will never need a sub with these
Tube Characterization: 6DJ8, 6922, 7308, CCa, etc I also feel that one of the pleasures of tube rolling is the variation of different nos tubes in different applications. Many nites are spent in trying different brands and or different "levels" of tubes CCa's, PQ's 7308's and so forth in my tube ...
Audio Research PH5 Cartridge reccomendations I have tubed rolled with a # of nos tubes in my ph5 currently have seimens in. the phono pre responds to nos tubes more then many tube pre amps. I am using a ZYX airy 3s which I feel is one of the sweet sounding cartridge'sDennis
Subwoofer reccomendations I would also include the Totem Lighting in this search, very fast and musical, easy to adjust so that it blends in nicely
Choosing a turntable.... I too suggest the VPI Super Scoutmaster! I have one, having traded up from a Scout and it realy does kick ass
Amp recommendation for Tyler Sig. Monitor I have used both McIntosh and Levinson with the linbrooks, you realy do not need lots of power, but it sure doesn"t hurt.
Favorite 6922 for ARC preamps. Most anything NOS will improve your pre. I have used seimens, tungsram, amprex bugle boy all were a nice improvement but my vote goes for the seimens
Audio Research or Rogue Just a quick comment regarding the Audio Research LS25LS stands for line stage, there is no phono pre built in.I have own the LS25 it is a very good choice and currently own the ARC PH5 which is excellent
Clear upgrade from 10T's? I also need to be close to the wall, I bought a pair Tyler Woodmere,s they work very well appox 12" from the back wall.(they are a front ported design) although they are larger than your 10t,s and designed for a large room. If they are larger than...
Bad experience with ZYX AIRY 3 I have had only great experience with this cartridge after apox 8 months |
