Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage
I am evaluating the TAP right now and at one time owned the Placette Active (and currently have a Placette passive). Two comments I would like to add to your fine review. First, the TAP includes first-rate functionality: channel balance, phase inv...
Speakers small enough for desktop use
Alex, I do not own the NHTs but heard them when our local audiophile group visited the NHT factory. They demo'd this model with and without the subwoofer. I felt that I would be happy with them sans woofer, but I can't say that you would feel the ...
input sensitivity
Unless you were using a preamp with a high output impedance, I think it's unlikely that that the input impedance differences between those amps are the reason they sounded different. (Input impedance is different from input sensitivity.) The Pass ...

Comparison of Thiel CS2.4 vs. Vandersteen 3A Sig.
I power mine with Krell, yes with the "harshest" of amps through the "harshest" of speakers. Can you imagine? Oh the humanity!LOL... very good!

Passive preamps: What are the relevant numbers?
I'm not sure what your amps input impedance is, but if it higher than 40Kohms you shuld be fineDo you consider this a general rule of thumb where passives are concerned, that they feed into loads of >40K ohms? Why is this?

Thanks.Does anyone know how to edit songs for burning, such as to clip just a portion of a song? I want to make some CDs for component evaluations and don't need entire selections in many cases. Not something you can do in iTunes, is it?
Today's Transport War: Significant Differences?
You are correct that he does not single out RUR. I had read HP's comments at the same time and the concept was top of mind when I wrote my post. Still, it seems to me that RH would maintain that RUR is nonsense for the same reason he takes issue w...

If you normally rip your CDs with Apple Lossless, should you change that to a non-compressed format for the CDs (or tracks) you wish to burn to new CDs?
Today's Transport War: Significant Differences?
I just re-read Robert Harley's comment on the Memory Player in a recent TAS. He had not heard it, but was so appalled at their claims about errors in reading discs (their Read Until Right process) that he felt compelled to speak up. Harley's a pre...
