Bel Canto Dac 3
Easrlier this year you posted a very favorable review of the Benchmark DAC1. Can I assume that you prefer the Bel Canto? Can you talk about how they differ?
Muralmans' amps reviewed Ultra Audio.
Ultimately, he prefers his less expensive Nuforce amps.
JADE AUDIO Cables
Social difference? Wow, these must be some cables!
First song to "Blow You Away"...
Blues Project, "Steve's Song", live. First time I heard a really loud band. Also, We Can Work It Out by those British lads.
Simple way to burn in phono cable w/ din ?
Dan's suggestion also deals with the tonearm lead, which is particularly challenging to break in. There'd be a market for a reasonably-priced "adapter" to allow you to attach the cartridge pin clips to something with two male (or female) RCAs hang...
Placette 100K volume control, problem solved
I must retract my earlier comments about "not a good fit" with my system. To my chagrin, I discovered last night that I had made some connection errors with my subwoofer (sometime in the past few days). Once fixed, the sound changed enough that I ...
Placette 100K volume control, problem solved
I'm using a modfied Marantz CDP and a Dynavector P-75 phono stage, feeding Reference 9SE's, all single-ended. I just got the Placette (the 3-input model) two days ago and I am hearing a lot of what I remember about the Placette "non sound", but I ...
Placette 100K volume control, problem solved
Very interesting. I just picked up a Placette myself, but it doesn't seem to be completely happy with either of my sources and feeding into Nuforce amps. I will try some other amps. I once owned a Placette Active, which I wish I had never sold, so...
Active Placette pre sound better than Passive?
The Active does not have any added gain unless you order it that way. Guy can probably modify your passives (or an Active) to have more attenuation.

I think 4yanx was talking about RSAD's new top-drawer cable, not the speaker.RSAD is in Indiana, right? How far from Chicago?
Running Active Speakers - Neophyte Needs Advice
Besides the Quads, what active speakers do you all own?
Placette RVC review in Stereophile
Good question, I hope someone with knowledge will chime in.

Thank you for that thorough explanation and also for the Eichmann recommendation. There are some very serious weaknesses in audiophiledome, one of which is the interface between cables and components. What you are doing makes so much sense, why are...
Placette RVC review in Stereophile
The Placette Active has no gain, although you can get it if you ask. So it is, effectsively, a buffered passive. I don't think you need sacrifice dynamics with a normal passive line stage, but things need to be carefully matched. With the Active, ...
