Looking for insight on the Green Mountain Europas
I've owned a pair for a couple of years now. They have mainly been in my video system but have also spent a couple of stretches in my main system. It's a cliche, but these speakers have a "rightness" about them. If you have lived with a time- and ...
The importance of proper set-up
Bill, the idea of the mineral oil is to thin the silicone, not to be a complete replacement for it.I am using the fluid from Turntable Basics, the 600,000 cSt version, which is what they specify for monopivot damping wells.
The importance of proper set-up
Not a dumb question. You can change the viscosity, with mineral oil (I believe), and I think that's exactly what I should do. How much to thin it is another question, and something I could use some guidance about. Another parameter to play with is...
The importance of proper set-up
Thanks for looking out for me, Newbie. :-)I just put on a record that is slightly warped on the outer portion and it won't track because the damping of the arm doesn't allow it to drop fast enough.

Does Bartokfan actually have Tyler speakers or just wish he had them. Paul?
Transparent , Kubala , Luminous , or RS Poiema
Thanks.I suggest that synergy may still be a factor in this way: depending on the components in one's system, the cables that "destroy the dynamics and dimensionality of the music" will not always be the same, nor will those that preserve those ch...

Lay off of Bartokfan, guys.
Transparent , Kubala , Luminous , or RS Poiema
Well said. Dave_b, you deserved that, and then some.Jafox, you say:Yes until I finally learned that tuning a system through the use of non-linear cables, something that many people refer to as synergy, is not the way to assemble a music system.Can...
Passive Pre - No Regrets?
Great report, and may I say that I'm not at all surprised at the outcome. Is your Active brand new? Because I believe Guy thinks they keep getting better over time. Like wine, or cheese.
