Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage is it correct to describe the TAP as solid state? It's passive so it has neither tubes nor transistors. Same for resistor-based passsives.
Transparency: What speakers have it in spades? Exactly.
Blind Shoot-out in San Diego -- 5 CD Players Oooo, I love that Bernstein Candide on RR. Good choice.
Warmest speaker? Vandersteen. Can't live with it... pass the beer nuts.Seriously, do you Vandersteen bashers feel the 5A is too warm?
Transparency: What speakers have it in spades? The way I am thinking about transparency these days is operational and not musical: the more a component allows me to hear upstream system changes, the more transparent it is. I'm sure this definiiton is not without problems and I'll also say that...
Blind Shoot-out in San Diego -- 5 CD Players Shadorne says:I remain somewhat skeptical that the other products are "dimensionless" in comparison.First, let me say how much I enjoy your posts here, Shadorne. I would characterize you as a knowledgeable, "gentleman disbeliever" of audiophile do...

Where did tracking error go? Tracking error is still an issue -- it will always be an issue with a pivoted arm. Analog playback is fraught will imprecision and error... and yet it works.
New Von Schweikert VR SR4 mk11 Cream or Crap ??? Right out of the box, even though I had the speakers face-to-face, out of phase, and covered with bear skins, I could tell they were something special.
Silverline's "Prelude" vs. Monitor Audio RS-6 It's nice to hear from these happy Prelude owners. Reading John Atkinson's measurements section in the Stereophile review, it seemed to me like he was bending over backwards to not say "bad engineering." |
