Benchmark Dac1 - next step recommendations please
If you haven't already, you should look at the website for Empirical Audio, Steve Nugent's company. They mod the DAC1 and also are thought leaders in the PC audio space.
What were your own blind cable test results?
Well, that analysis is only accurate where the prettier cable sounds better. If it's the natty looking cheap cable that sounds better then that argument falls on its butt unless you have some type of incentive for the cheaper cable to win of cours...
Integrated amp with internal DAC?
Panasonic makes AV receivers with internal DACs and class D amplification. I use one in my TV setup, feeding digital output from DVD and TiVo boxes, and it works superbly. Less than $400 new. Has 5 channels and AM/FM, but who cares?

Harbeth vs. Tyler

Avalon DiamondQuad 2805Harbeth Monitor 30That's a very interesting and impressive collection. I am guessing you are finding the Harbeths to be less fussy -- MUCH less fussy -- about speaker cables than the other two. Yes?
Your 5 Fav Rock Concerts
The Spellcheckers, English 101 tour. Not much fun, but they sure are effective.

Tom, I have a pair of Focus 140s and Harbeth SHL5s, if I can be of any assistance. I think the size of your room is better suited to the Harbeth 7 than the 5, by the way.
