The Best Inexpensive Wines Available Now
Just had the 2001 Navarro Mendocino Pinot Noir ($14.50) and immediately bought more. Very nice.
anyone listenedd to the Gershman Cameleons?
What's with the spelling of that model?
Your favourite recordings that everyone else hates
I have an impression that a lot of Joan Siberrry's fans hate When I Was a Boy. I think it's brilliant and the only album of hers I have heard that I really love.
I adore my Shahinian loudspeakers
Who are those 4 dealers, do you know?
Best Live Recordings:Performance and recording
For Ten Years After, check out Undead. Maybe only half of it is live, but man, could they play. The Hugh Masekela album"Hope" is live. Not much of a live feel, but great sonics and pretty good music.
Dylan new remasters/SACD preview
Thanks Ben.
Who is using a tube preamp with your Pass X-250???
I use a First Sound with an X-150. The impedance match is sub-optimal, but I like it anyway. A great preamp, truly great, but no balanced out or remote, alas.
SACD Player Mods vs. Outboard D/A converter?
Keep in mind, going the mod route saves you the added expense and anxiety of a digital cable and a second power cord. (Anxiety because you have to worry about whether you have made the best choices. Some of us like the angst, though.)My impression...
Danny Kirwan
I'm also a big fan of his FM work. Sands of Time is a particular favorite. Ram Jam City is pretty weak, but it's nice to hear his voice and his uncanny knack for pretty melody.
What to power Thiel 2.4 speakers?
Although I don't have any direct experience with the 2.4, it is said to be much easier to drive than most previous Thiel models, the 1.6 excepted. So you might be fine with as little 100+ watts into 4 ohms, maybe less depending on your listening h...
Good ROCK speakers
It seems peculiar to me that everytime one of these threads gets started, and there have been many, everybody chimes in with suggestions for speakers I doubt any of you would have in your own two-channel systems. Why is that? Most of us love rock....
Most achingly-beautiful music
Not quite achingly beautiful, more like lilting ear candy, but Morten Lauridsen's 4 minute piece called Dirait-on sure has captured my fancy. It's the last of several pieces from his cycle called Les Chansons des Roses, which are poems by Rilke th...
I need a new Web Browser....now
Apple's new browser, Safari, is terrific. May require OS X, I'm not sure. Noticeably faster than IE.
HIP Early Music on SACD
Yes, thank you very much.
Madrigal is Closed
I fail to see anything dire in this and think many of you are misreading things and over-reacting.With the discontinuation of Proceed, there was no reason for Madrigal to exist as an umbrella brand for Levinson alone. Think of Harman Specialty as ...
