Liquid Stylus Cleaners
I've personally found that the Last stylus cleaner really does improve the tracking.  I tried the Magic Eraser bit, but it left the stylus sounding flat, until I cleaned it with the Last stylus cleaner.
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
@rauliruegas With your extensive experience and knowledge, I think you really could contribute positively to these audiogon threads, but somehow, I think you just do not comprehend the details of what is being discussed. No, I never said, nor is...
Classical piano solo—Your one favorite performance and recording
Yes, I would have to agree that Glenn Gould's recordings of Bach's Goldberg Variations must be among my favorite classical solo piano pieces, although he was more famous for his unique interpretations as opposed to the standard, establishment inte...
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
@rauliruegas  I think a course in English comprehension would benefit you immensely, and allow you to contribute more positively to these forum discussions: Firstly, the thread in April was a thread about phono stages for a particular turntable,...
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
@atmasphere  That's a very thorough, well-considered assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of SUT.  Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with me / us!
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
I’m not sure that I completely understand the matter, but it seems that there are two options in cartridge signal amplification in or before the phono stage: either 1. an SUT before the phono stage, or 2. a transistor in the phono stage. If that’...
Which power cords have high resolutions and separation??
@timetraveler66 Where do you live? I’m sure a local will take you up on that. I would, if you lived near me. There was one blinded "test" done on another forum which supported your hypothesis.
Current sensing phono stages w/Rega?
@hleeid If you compared those three phono stages on your system and liked the Konus better, then that sounds like a reasonable upgrade. As others pointed out, the higher impedance will still work in a current base phono stage, but from what I re...
Ultrasonic record cleaners
@antinn  The cloud point is an interesting property of Triton X:  I studied college level chemistry, and generally speaking, I thought most substances/chemicals were more solvent as the temperature of the solution increases.  But with Triton X, h...
Ultrasonic record cleaners
@antinn  Thanks.  So it seems that, based on a flow calculation, due to speed of rotation, only 1 LP is recommended at a time in the 6 L tank.  And on review, it looks like 1 LP should be cleaned at a time based on surface area as well.  Your boo...
Current sensing phono stages w/Rega?
With an output impedance of 10 ohm, I don’t think this cartridge (Ania Pro) is the best choice for a current-based phono pre-amp. . . I would recommend upgrading your cartridge: when I had a P8, I never appreciated vinyl more than after I got a L...
Ultrasonic record cleaners
@antinn The ultrasonic cleaner that I currently have it 6" in width, which leaves 3" on each side of the LP if I clean 1 LP at a time. Is there any practical or theoretical disadvantage if I were to clean 2 LP’s at a time, with a distance of 2" ...
Ultrasonic record cleaners
@antinn  I downloaded your book on an old ipad that is no longer used for anything with passwords, etc.  It looks to be a great resource.  Thanks to you and Bill for sharing that with the audiophile community! Are you aware of any real world exp...
Ultrasonic record cleaners
@antinn  Thank you for the detailed response.  It looks like even on initial review that I could use 5+ oz of 91% IPA to get an approximate 2.5% solution in 6L. .. I am aware of alcohol's antibacterial properties, but I wasn't aware exactly what ...
Ultrasonic record cleaners
@antinn  What, in your experience, do you think would be the best combination of additives to the distilled water in a 180W 40kHZ ultrasonic 6L bath for cleaning LP's  (e.g. how much 91% isopropyl alcohol, Triton X, dawn dish detergent, or other....
