How to evaluate preamps? move back to your "preamp-less" setup. You already know what you like. Anything else is a distraction.
Getting off the merry-go-round – AFRAID TO??? In general, being a music lover is not a hobby, per se, it's something innate (i'm still a music lover when i'm asleep, but i'm not golfing, playing a guitar, or swapping equipment). Spending time listening to music is just that, to me. Listening t...
Dynaudio Contour S5.4 & S3.4 Owners? " I wonder why Dynaudio decided to configure the drivers in such a way"Because like LedZep said, they sound amazing. Trust the Danes. They know what they are doing. They are amazing loudspeakers. Darn near full range in a nice tight footprint, can ...

Dynaudio Contour S5.4 & S3.4 Owners? Hi,I have a pair of s3.4's. The tweeter position is only unusual....looking. There was nothing to get used due to the configuration...ie the highs don't stand out or seem like they radiate from the midpoint, but present with a very cohesive manner...
Best player for Poorly Recorded redbook CDs? some dude on another forum did a big comparison between Rega Apollo and NAD M5, said M5 made crappy recordings sound MUCH better than the Apollo. M5 was also the better player on fine recordings, and SACD bonus to boot. YMMV.

Does the"quality" of jumpers affect the sound? John,The "AC" that comes out of your amp is not necessarily 120Hz; it's audio band signal so it ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Maybe your thinking about wall household input frequency??? anyway, Your amp, any audio amp, in general basically modulate...
Does the"quality" of jumpers affect the sound? Jmcgrogan2All analog audio signals, regardless of their magnitude, are AC in nature. All Audio amplifiers or integrated amps connected to typical loudspeakers are designed to generate amplified versions of the incoming AC (musical) signal. Any DC ...
What song best describes you or your life? "Ramblin Man"...Allman Brothers - as played when I am getting ready to audition a new component ;)
How does one get off the merry-go-round? Sell your separates and current speakers, put most of your money into even better speakers but go with a really nice integrated amp with tone controls. Choose carefully and you really may be off the merry go round while still retaining awesome sound.
Tweak your AC mains for better performance, free Foster_9Do you normally leave your equipment on all the time?
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. Sorry for this one I forgot to include this in my last post, but do you think the "wow" factor folks have when they hear analog is partly from surprise--that "old technology" can sound as good as it does?Either way there is something intangible ab...
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. THe only experience I have with vinyl was though my parents collection when I was a kid. I was fascinated with the turntable and I think that is what really hooked me into Audio toys in general. As i grew older I never got into the, but just focus...
Opinions on Audio Research LS17 & LS26 Agree Audphile1. I too replaced the stock infini's with TRT's and the preamp was far more transparent/neutral. This was a good thing in the context of my system. The LS15 with the EH6922's and new dual tube dampers from arc, plus the TRT's IMHO,ta... |
