Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant?
@lewm What fsonic and maybe Dover mentioned is another class of "linestage" that is completely passive I did NOT discuss passaive linestages in my post, and do not like them, and they would be a waste of time in drbond's system. How many times have...
Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant?
@drbond So, when you say the Manley linestage is just a "buffer", you mean that it's not amplifying the signal by adding gain, but just transmitting the signal unadulterated? Yes. The washed out sound at higher volume settings suggest the Manley i...
Cartridge ISOLATION; What Say You?
Until it turned out my Origin Live Conqueror did sound better just sitting in the hole Yes, Einstein, thats what happens when you have a poorly designed arm with rattly bearings or poorly designed home brew TT that fails to deal with the cartridge...
EMT and/or Koetsu with Shindo pre/phono and Kuzma Ref 313 arm....
My recommendation would be to upgrade the arm first - Kuzma 4Point11 will improve the performance of your existing TT/cartridge fundamentally across the board. Do the cartridge later.Cartridge options - Kuza CAR50 ( massively better than CAR40 and...
Technics SP10 MK3 Restoration
Toho plinth - I discovered vintage TOHO cast iron plinths online. I don't have technics Sp10mkII anymore. But Toho plinth for Victor TT-101 is interesting (not so big and not so heavy).  What happens when the cleaning lady, sorry - non binary clea...
Technics SP10 MK3 Restoration
@pindac  Checkout warrenjones SP10 appreciation thread on stereonet. There is some very interesting information on checking motor runout, platter runout, new platters - there are significant opportunities in checking tolerances and blueprinting the...

@antinn Are you sure the tips of the CF brush have not fractured? Pieces 5 microns in length and 7 microns wide would not be visible but could be audible.  You may be interested in feedback I had many years ago with Brian Garrott, of Garrott Bros...
Technics SP10 MK3 Restoration
Just watched this with better view of OMA Cast Iron plinth, and to my surprise Jonathan (at 5:10) said that there is a CRYSTALLINE GRAPHITE in this grey iron formula. This is like mounting a bowl of jello on a 20 tonne rock.If you have ever seen t...
Replacement tonearm for VPI Classic 3 Signature
mckinneymke,The 4Point11 has an effective mass 18gm which would be great for the Koetsu. If you can afford it this is superb - I have set one up with various cartridges  including Van Den Hul Calibre & Kuzma CAR50 - compared to Moerch DP8, Hel...
Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant?
@drbond Nobody has asked you the key questions - What power amp are you using ?For your current listening how high do you have to go on the Manley volume pot ?From your other posts - you appear to have Atmasphere MA1 amplifiers. These are an easy l...
Linn Sondek LP-12 tonearm recommendations?
In my view if it is for an office you want an arm that is not fiddly and fuss free.I'd go with Ekos if possible, you should be able to find a good one in your price range, and just get a modest priced musical cartridge - Soundsmith MI for example.
Replacement tonearm for VPI Classic 3 Signature
Kuzma 4Point11 is a forever arm - easy to set up and use, VTA on the fly its brilliant.Kuzma 4Point9 is bang for the buck. What cartridge are you using ??
Technics SP 10 mc II. Worth looking at?
@pindacAt present the $1000 value is close to the Tonearm Value if AUS $ is converted to GBP. That statement is misleading. The MA88 tonearm is a budget arm that currently sells for US$100-150.It is easy to be generous with other folks money, pers...
Back To Static!
@mijostynI believe these are the same sleeves antinn refers to above. They are suspiciously like the MF sleeves. I have had no problems with them. They are sturdy and slip into the cover nicely without crimping or folding. Anti static sleeves is a...
Back To Static!
@antinn Thanks - I thought Analog Relax most interesting point was to not move the antistatic brush when discharging the record. I dont think I've ever seen anyone not move the antistatic brush, which defeats the purpose. I do see that that their ...
