What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
This is an instance where the necessary aspects of the AES48 can exist at the source and the load but in order to operate 'properly' the interface cabling must also be done to the standard (twisted pair with a shield) and I have only experienced ...
One turntable with two arms, or two turntables with one each - which would you prefer?
I have built several TT plinths - here are my observations  Panzerholz is not stable -it can warp and I would only use it in conjunction with another material that is dimensionally stable. Granite - rings - no matter how thick. Slate is ok, doe...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
@mikelavigne  Hi Mike I followed your thread on the phono cable sea on WBF. Whilst I do not doubt what you have heard in your system ( and I assume no-one here has heard your system, so comments are speculative ), and I have huge respect for you...
Parts for Dynavector 501 Tonearm
@islandmandan  Thats great news. Fyi - I fully rebuilt my 501 - including rewire and changed the angle of the sub arm to facilitate Baerwald rather than Stevenson, and still keep ing the cartridge dead straight in the headshell ( this is critica...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
The Verismo is robably a better value.  As Freud would say
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
@mijostyn  I listened extensively to Soundsmith's Strain Gauge cartridge with records I know intimately. It has excellent transient response and a very vivid signature partially because it is too bright. It's tracking ability does not come close...
Analogue v. Digital...again (Washington Post)
Analogue v. Digital...again Boring. This topic is like watching paint dry.. in cold weather. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 0.1..   On the other hand reading posts on this subject is like going to the dentist for a root canal ( without anaesthetic ...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
@terry9  The Hyperion description from @richardkrebs is similar to what I've heard. The SS strain gauge cartridges take it up another notch. From the Paua up the SS are superb on classical. Not the best cartridge I've heard - but very good. I'...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
I don’t perseverate too much on cables, although I do believe they make a big difference. I needed one 22-foot length cable to run from my Steelhead to the built-in amplifier on a Beveridge speaker; the other channel needs only about 12 feet. O...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
I’ve measured C in a 22 foot run of my AntiCables IC vs another 22-ft of  IC with a conventional shield.  Wow, you must like soggy bass and rolled off high frequencies - usual single strand attributes - no damping factor. ( Yes I have heard the...
What is the best tonearm for a SOTA Nova turntable?
@gyneguy225  Thats a great outcome On the SOTA you shouldn't need to do a complete upgrade. The Nova already has the AC motor with double regulated frequency synthesised power supply - this was a massive improvement on the older DC motor. I pr...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
@labpro  Ok, now I’m really curious. I’m going to borrow my friends Auditorium 23 “T2” Thats a great idea. It will give you an indication of whether the mismatch is having a significant affect or not. By the way, I have the DIN phono cable A...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
@mulveling  If you look at the cost of the components to have such a mismatch is sad. If you put 91 in your Ferrari, it will run, but it won't perform.
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
@elliottbnewcombjr  The 2.5ohm T1 supposedly has a turns ration of at least 30. He's running the 16ohm Madake into 52ohms. His output voltage would be 7volts into the phono. It's a mess - total mismatch - probably the result of reading too many ...
Tonearm/Cartridge pairing.
@martinguitars  Antiskate too high - should be in the range  0.7-1.0. What about VTA ? Good stylus clean.
