Anyone here tweak any Legacy Focus speakers? My "tweak" of Legacy speakers was a new version of the Whisper years ago which has capacity to be run in three modes; fully passive, hybrid with passive mid/treble and active x-over for bass, and fully active x-over. Amplification can range from o...
A pleading request to manufacturers of amplifiers and preamplifiers. That's ok, a nurse I know reassures, "All bleeding stops eventually!" ;)
A pleading request to manufacturers of amplifiers and preamplifiers. Someone has to suffer for our art. I used to; not anymore. You guys can. ;)
VanL Speakerworks still in business? It’s been a while now, but I wish to draw this to a close, as I left it open-ended. In the end I did not get satisfaction from VanL Speakerworks. The amp went through two techs, and never was repaired to the point that it worked fine. About 3 week...
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic jayctoy, I was referring to use of Schroeder Method with SACD. I didn't recall anyone discussing that. Perhaps you did along the way, but I may not have realized it, and have not been curating this thread for a long time. I did recall your endorse...
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic jayctoy, not sure what you mean by "fleshing out more than an IC can accommodate"? I have found NO limit to what cables can reveal as components and systems are built. Why would you think you know the limits of the system? Your comment doesn't mak...
Salk Sound vs Legacy Audio I have owned and reviewed (for Dagogo.com) both Legacy and Salk speakers. I am currently finishing up a review of a Salk speaker, which will be revealed at the publication. Both companies give a great amount of value per dollar spent, among the ...
SQ vs. Music It’s my prerogative how much I listen critically and casually, and I could not care less how others do so.
Hales Transcendence 5 speakers endgame? If you have not upgraded the internal wiring of the speakers, I strongly suggest you do, for it will yield yet another worthwhile improvement. I recommend you explore/test three different brands/models in order to optimize the speakers.
I nominate this company as building best speakers! I guess it's getting to be hard times for Magico. ;) The problem is when the OP asserts "the best" with little qualification, which is typical. Suggesting the other brands are "hifi" in comparison shows a fawning adoration that is not representat...
Playing with two sets of speakers simultaneoulsy You have made a hybrid type of speaker system. It’s fun to do so occasionally, but it will exhibit serious drawbacks, as all such cobbled together systems do. Once you get past the novelty of it, and go back to listening to the proper speakers, yo...
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... Bjesien, lower power and the choice of speaker model got you pretty sound, but not extreme sound on the performance spectrum. It's perfectly understandable why you wish for more dynamics and frequency extension. 34Hz is not exciting low end perfo...
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... Monitor and sub not my idea of an upper end experience. Way too many unnecessary issues/problems introduced for imo no great reason ( unless no other options). I have had a few and would not consider typically for a reference sound. With the chan...
Why audiophiles are different (explained with color) For those who would like to read about things such as "burn in" and warm up, I direct you to my article "Audiophile Law: Thou Shalt Not Overemphasize Burn In". There is discussion of warm up as well. It is at Dagogo.com
Why is there so much separation between the professional audio and audiophile worlds? The continued attempt to meld these two domains is ridiculous, and unnecessary. :( |
