Is it the beer or do speakers/electronics really need some extended warm-up period?
Geoffkait, doesn't matter, both are the same futile activity, horridly nebulous and fraught with subjectivity. Split them, merge them, either way they are useless. I'm a cable proponent, but that's different in that when I swap a cable I'm hearing...

Time to play "March of the Self-Confident Audiophile"! Sorry, guys, you are wrong. You're living in a fantasy where you can purportedly distinguish between warm up and burn in, and can hear equipment changing in sonics over hours or days. It's gre...
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
If you can, keep them both, at least for a while. Learn to appreciate what each technology brings. Both have advantages and serious shortcomings, imo. A simple switch from omni to HE box is not an easy transition. Stay loose, you'll need to. :)
Mega D'Appolito Speakers - The Holy Grail?
Is the dynamic range, detail, transparency, distortion and imaging consistently better than other type of designs? No.
Ugly vs Gogeous speakers
Ugly is ok, but it has to be a gorgeous form of ugly.  ;) I have found surprisingly little correlation between the appearance of speakers and their absolute performance. I find most claims of purportedly better performance while skimping on aesthe...
A few versus that connect you........what song is it?
Some lyrics are haunting; this from Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle, from the album Verities and Balderdash:My child arrived just the other dayHe came to the world in the usual wayBut there were planes to catch and bills to payHe learned to wa...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
I check in periodically, but I have other projects running, too. Some of what follows may be redundant, but I'm not going back to research it. I understand both sides of this debate. I was at one time more in sympathy with the objectivists, but I ...
VMPS speakers--Who has had great success in bringing their VMPS speakers to new heights?
dorkwad, congratulations on enjoyment of the "fruits of your labors"! Your enthusiasm is palpable. Keep going, keep experimenting, as it sounds like you love to build systems, and this is a wonderful participation in the experience of being an aud...
Not Enough Options for Auditioning Speakers
If it's not important enough to drive across state lines or go to an audio show, buy what's nearby. Or, build your own criteria to filter results on unheard speakers and buy one. If it's important enough to you, you will spend some money and time ...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
Just about.
Legacy Audio Focus SE compared to the Legacy Aeris Speakers
mtrot, setup might take a bit, but once it's dialed in it's better than passive. You will not typically get better sound from the Aeris with passive x-over than you can with the Wavelet and separate amp channels for all driver sets. Read my review...
When System Improvements Are Marginal
Don't ever try to put up a big rig; the indecision would probably kill you. ;)
Has anyone ever heard these speakers by Volti Audio?
A friend owns the Alura (vertical) and you would have to pry them out of his cold, dead hands... He runs Border Patrol, sounds terrific. I heard the Vittora a few times, good stuff.
Tech That Flopped!
Success in terms of popularity often means mediocrity in terms of performance.
Conrad Johnson Officially Transfers ownership
"Thiel ar crash"? The big new Thiel speaker i heard at Axpona this year was worlds better than the old designs. Frankly, the previous 10 years of Thiel had been a diaster, imo.
