Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot? So what are we hearing then?
Record-playing Rituals? I use it on records with obvious mold growth or that don't clean up completely with a couple of RRL passes. It removes some (never all) mold growth deposits. Not perfect but better than not using it.
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot? Yourmama,Very LF signals are easy to find on vinyl. Just break out your HFN test record and play the resonance measurement tracks. Paul and I both hear clean test signals down to 16Hz on our Teres 265/Tri-Planar VII/Shelter 901. On actual music th...
Record cleaning vs Last Record Preservative Steve,Before the Loricraft OR the Shop Vac I used microfiber cloths for drying. That worked pretty well, nearly as well as the Shop Vac in fact, actually better if the vacuum felts were overdue for changing.Your, "much like drying the dishes" anal...
vpi jmw tonarm rust yes rust I totally agree that Toddwj should contact VPI of course, and I have no doubt Mike or someone will take care of him.But I don't think it's cool to slam him for posting a fact, unless of course you think he's making it up. Those reactions sounded r...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot? Quite a fascinating conversation, George is certainly getting an earful. If I were in his position, I would certainly explore all reasonable no-cost or low-cost solutions before dumping my whole rig and starting over. I'm not saying Ken is wrong a...
Home brew cleaning solution Here's one post on surface tension by Brian Weitzel of RRL. I know I've seen others but can't remember where offhand.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?eanlg&989893521&openflup&100&4#100I don't know which theory is better. But...
Conrad Johnson MF2500A & Dyn's 1.3SE More than retail?! What value has this wonderful dealer added to them that would justify charging more than the manufacturer thinks they're worth?Glad to hear that relocating and stabilizing your speakers helped so much. Putting my B&W's on sp...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot? No flame, but like Raul I'd be interested in some further explanation. I don't own and haven't heard a Basis TT, but I've never heard much of anything bad about the 2000 and higher models. ???
Home brew cleaning solution The Disc Doctor, Last and carbon fiber brushes are all about the full width of the grooves, so I start everywhere at once.
Home brew cleaning solution Agree with Aroc. Brian Weitzel has explained this several times. If he'd wanted RRL to flow more evenly he could have made it do so.
Living with popping and crackling Cmk,I quite agree, the quality of virginity has never been lower. It's pretty frustrating to unwrap a new $25-30 record, knowing there's a 30-50% chance I'll be returning it for replacement. That's my experience in the last six months with both Cl...
Record cleaning vs Last Record Preservative Red2,I use RRL + DD brushes on a Loricraft. I've cleaned many 100's of records and have never once experienced a record getting noisier. Obviously this should never happen in any well designed cleaning regimen that's followed with discipline. OTOH...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot? George,A year or so ago I was just where you are, and I still learn something new and fascinating here every day. I've made some good friends and also have some great music to show for it.Of course my bank account is a wreck. If anyone had told me...
Living with popping and crackling Hi Cmk,I dearly (very dearly) wish that Classic Records vinyl was as quiet as most 20+ year old harmonia mundis, Telfunkens, Archiv Productions, Eratos... But it isn't IME. I have hundreds of CR reissues and very few can match any of those labels ... |
