$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
Hey, no question there are better systems than mine. There are better systems than Twl's too. And Jphii's. And Cmk's. So what? How does stating this obvious fact help Artar 1 select a cartridge? Should he ignore the experiences of everyone but the...

Cmk,Is the Schroeder 2 still available? I thought he'd consolidated the line. One person I know with a Schroeder 2 and TriPlanar IV prefers the 2, so I assume it has much of the sonic neutrality of the Reference. That would be a good thing.Artar 1...
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
Rene,I reread the article and understand that a key aspect of it is your question, "Is it really VTA/SRA changes that we're hearing or is it something else?" Apologies if I seemed to be dismissing it. This article has been used or mis-used both he...
Cartridge Wire Problem
Excellent suggestion Raul, IF he chooses to DIY a fix. That's certainly better than attempting to heat shrink, which I also discouraged. BTW, what color nail enamel do you recommend? I'm not much of an expert on that either.
New Teres 360
"I did not think he was delving into metals as a means of improving the sonics of the table..."That's exactly what he HAS been doing, at least since June when we spoke about the sonic effects of brass and other materials at Cello's gathering.TWL h...
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
"Since record thicknesses vary, you'd need to adjust the VTA, for every record you play, if you want "perfection". I don't think anybody does this."Hello. I know several people who do exactly this, ourselves included. Ask Colitas. I just cleaned, ...

Artar,Thanks for the kind words. Just to keep things in perspective, TWL's dog knows more about analog than I do. I just try to help where I can.Re: tonearmsAs he said, if you're using a Denon 103x or Shelter, a Moerch DP-6 seems more viable than ...
Teres 340, anyone heard / seen one in the flesh
Sorry, just my pathetic attempt at humor. There's no such model AFAIK. What little I know about the new model 360 (very little indeed) is posted on that thread.
New Teres 360
My conversations with CB regarding brass concerned its sonic properties and its engineering properties. I had no idea he was going to use it for its aesthetic properties too.I like wood too. IMO the best looking Teres is the 320. Solid, simple and...

Alright already! I remembered, I remembered. Whad'ja expect from a classical-loving dinosaur?Classical is a particularly tough challenge for a system. Even jazz is easy by comparison, and pop/rock are a cake walk. Natural instrumental and voice ti...
What's Wrong With My Cartridge/Setup?
Typo. That should read, "...try reversing your speaker or power amp + and - connections..."
What's Wrong With My Cartridge/Setup?
Not much to add to Dan_Ed's and Viridian's posts. A flat sounding soundstage will result from a system that's wired out of polarity. Just for testing, try reversing your speaker or power amp + and + connections, whichever is easier to reach. IF LP...

Three other ideas:If a 245 is too much, take a look at the 160. The plinth isn't quite at the 200 series level, but the lead-weighted platter *might* make up a lot of the difference. I haven't heard a 150/160 so that's just an idea, not a recommen...
Cartridge Wire Problem
Is this going ot be an isse?MaybeWill this affect the sound?Well, if they ever touch it sure will!Should I worry?Never, this hobby is supposed to be fun!Should I talk to the guy who did the work? Absolutely. If you paid him a reasonable fee he owe...
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Frank, Thanks for elaborating on some of the measures you've employed to control mechanical feedback from the cartridge, including chaotically structured armwand materials and other construction elements. I know you've done a great deal of work in...
