Phono cable advice.
In all the responses above I haven't seen anything about cable cooking, which IMHO makes more difference than just about anything else.  Phonocables carry such tiny signals relative to other ICs that they never get broken in by playing alone.  My ...
Can you live with your current speaker until you die?
Absolutely.  Gallo Nucleus Ultimates from ~1996.'Course I'm already 89 so ...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
Second the Audiodharma Cable Cooker.  Paid for itself in a hurry, especially with ICs from tonearms to linestage (I have two TTs), which carry such minuscule signals that in the normal course of playing they never get burned in.  No I wouldn't hav...
AC Regenerator
Forgot to mention there are also a tubed linestage and tubed phonostage (both Aesthetix) connected to the regenerators.
AC Regenerator
I was an early adopter of the PS Audio P300 and ended up with two of them because they made an astonishing sonic improvement in my source gear and preamp..  But they couldn't handle any power amp I owned (I know, these are supposed to sound better...
Best tube dampers that you have used
Of the 29 tubes in my current setup, not one has a damper on it.  Not for lack of trying them, everything from Herbies to Mapleshade.
The Absolute Sound vs Stereophile
Sterophile for sure, although I also subscribe to TAS.  Recently  decided it takes too much space to store both mags, so I've been selectively re-reading and then discarding older issues of TAS.  Oddly enough, I never much liked EITHER Pearson or ...
Cable Burn In
I have some very pertinent experience with this issue.  My long-time balanced interconnects  (Clear Day) on the link between my Oppo/ModWright 105 CD/SACD player and Aesthetix Calypso linestage have served me well without complaint over the last 3...

Is this an ugly speaker? TAS cover 10/2017
Right.  It looks like a Wilson speaker.  I happen to like the way it looks.  Others don't. So?
Is this an ugly speaker? TAS cover 10/2017
How do they sound?  If I had the money and the inclination, that would be my first question.
Thief Alert
Benzman, this thief's real name is Michael Campbell.  He's been ripping people off for years. He's used addresses in Ohio and Florida.  He took me for $100 maybe a decade ago.  More recently he took a good friend for around $2000.  Crime doesn't p...
What tonearm will better mine?
I recently bought two Jelcos (SA-750D and SA-750E) for my modded Empire and Lenco tables.  The one on the Lenco replaced a JMW 10.5i arm and spare armtubes and sounds better to me in ALL respects.  I came out of that deal with more than $1K in cas...
Newb question regarding alignment - Should the stylus Physically touch the protractor?
I've had several of Ken Willis' AcuTrak proteractors and they have all been plastic-backed with a hole for the spindle.  I'm not sure why yours isn't like that.
Retired audiophile?
Raptor88, sorry I missed your post until now.  I'm partial to the Clear Day balanced silver interconnects.  Clear Day (Paul Laudati) used to sell only speaker wires, also silver, and more recently introduced a line of interconnects.  They're not e...
