Warm, Lush Laid-Back Smaller Floor Standers? https://www.audioholics.com/tower-speaker-reviews/philharmonic-bmr I own a pair of BMR Philharmonitors, as well as some big boys (JBL 4350 & DD 67000), and Dynaudio Heritage Specials, so I have some common experience. I was looking for som...
Full range speakers, 40"-44" max height BMR Towers. 43" high, phenomenal performance at $4000. Or JBL Project Array 1400s, if you can find them. They’re gonna be 6-8 thousand bucks if you can. Not many people turn loose of them. They’re about 45" high. Best imaging I’ve experienced. St...
How do you stop house guest from damaging your speakers? +1 for Uncledemp I'm happy for anyone to come in and listen, choose what to play, etc. But I do ease a little bit closer so I can intervene if anyone starts to reach for anything. Especially the little kids. Every room has at least one complet...
Really Inexpensive Systems That Sounded Great? For work, we spend one or two nights a week at another place outside of Dallas. It’s an old frame farmhouse that we remodeled/rebuilt. It’s mostly just to have a place to eat supper, relax and sleep, then leave for work at sunrise. Rooms are sm...
Really Inexpensive Systems That Sounded Great? We have so many systems that they’re doubled up in several rooms. Best bang for the buck is Dynaco ST70, PAT5, BMR Philharmonitors. Under $2000 for entire system. Second contender is Luxman 5C50 pre, Elekit TU8600S, and Heathkit AS-101 speakers...
Speakers with deep/powerful bass JBL 4350 will casually handle anything you feed them. I have a pair of them in our large living room, along with a pair of JBL Everest DD67000 on the adjacent wall. Playing a Simon Preston recording of Bach organ concerti, cranked up they shake pl...

After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be. “I wonder if we are the last of a generation that grew up with hi-fi and made it an important part of our lives-- “ Yup, you’re right. But part of the reason is that they haven’t had the opportunity to hear what’s possible, what big ol’ boxes...
After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be. 75 here, with 60 years of the chase behind me. Still have the first Heathkit I built, the first decent turntable and speakers that I bought. It’s all been wonderful, and still going. We have about a dozen pairs of speakers inside and outside of th...
Advice for bookshelf speakers JBL L110 is a fine, well-balanced speaker, a real sleeper - sometimes available for just a few hundred bat skins. I keep at least one pair around for temporary use (trailer trip, special occasion at kids house…).
Advice for bookshelf speakers Ascend Acoustics Sierra 2 EX. Absolutely wonderful and the EX version has solid bottom end. Even better is the BMR Philharmonitors, but size may disqualify them. They’re even better than the Sierras, and that’s saying a LOT. If you can afford the...

Considering Towers in the $3000 range +1 for the Ascend Acoustics Sierra Tower speakers. I’ve been using the bookshelf version Sierra 2 EX, and they are hard to beat, expecially for the price, but the towers take it to another level. Not quite up to the Revel Salon 2 speakers in my fa...
