Harbeth C7 vs Proac D25 Review Very interesting--I'll look for the D28.
Harbeth C7 vs Proac D25 Review Alain:The D25's remained in my system on loan for about a month. In the end I came to the conclusion that while a very nice speaker it was not the best value for money--particularly given the dollars decline. The bass continued to perplex in my ro...
For the vinyl enthusiasts Thanks, Soundwatts!
Movies that featured High End equipment I happened to tune in for a minute to a new show called "Kings of Something or other". They were planning to kidnap or rob Mick Jagger. They did a brief excerpt from one of those "Let's see Mick's crib" shows and Mick was showing off his home thea...
For the vinyl enthusiasts Soundwatts--can you give an address and phone for Flipside. I'm a Jersey resident and haven't heard of it. It would be nice to check out a new venue. Thanks.
Replacement for Proac Response 3's It is my understanding that the foam surrounds on the Response 3's are prone to degradation over time. You can do a costly replacement, try to find replacement woofers (matched?) or buy new speakers.
Replacement for Proac Response 3's How about the new D38's? They are a little smaller, can be positioned closer to the wall due to the bottom cabinet vent and sound better than the Response 3's without being a whole new sonic signature.
Comparison of Thiel CS2.4 vs. Vandersteen 3A Sig. While ancillary equipment is important I don't think you can change the fundamental characteristics of either of these speakers. Thiel's = cool, dry, analytical, revealing. (Not a "harsh" word here for them). Vandersteen 3A Sigs = warm, lush, invo...
Comparison of Thiel CS2.4 vs. Vandersteen 3A Sig. I agree these are very different sounding speakers. Personally, I could not live with either of them for more than a short period of time as the trade offs for each are too severe. Why not look into some other brands that split the difference in t...
Which $7000 speakers to ask Santa? Beheme:I heard the Zen Adagio's at a recent show and was unimpressed. Of course, a show setting is not ideal so take this for what it's worth. I applaud your interest in venturing into lesser known territory. My search began by narrowing the field...
Which $7000 speakers to ask Santa? Of those mentioned so far and that I forgot to include in my initial post I'd like to second the Focus Audio's and the Merlin's. Since you seem game to get off the beaten path I'd like to once again suggest the Daedalus DA-1's. Do a search on this...
Which $7000 speakers to ask Santa? Some information about the components used in front of the speakers would be helpful. One speaker that comes to mind is the Wilson Sophia. You might find a newer II version for a bit more than 7K but the Sophia I can certainly be had for that mone...
"I'll pay you later today" Overall, my experience with the A'gon community has been very positive. However my last sale had two different folks who backed out after committing to buy. It was a really frustrating experience and I'm sure I lost a few buyers who would have com...
Naim ? For me, the recent vintage electronics are a bit pricey for what you get. I'd only consider if driving a nice two way monitor like the Spendors or Harbeth line. The CD players are something else indeed. Also expensive but to my ears some of the be...
Tracking issue with dynavector 20XL "P.S. An easy way to make tiny, repeatable VTF adjustments on arms that lack a fine adjustment is to slip a few O-rings onto or off of the end stub".I wish I'd thought of that--adjusting VTF with the Scout is nearly impossible. The slightest movem... |
