Advice on New Electrical Service
It looks like the panel that the electrician has mounted and partially installed is made by "Murray". Not sure if anyone can speak to the quality compared with the Square D QO. Should I have him pull the one he mounted and replace? Advice?
Advice on New Electrical Service
Thanks everyone. Jea48--what is the difference between the two types of panels? He already has the new one mounted on the wall--I'll go over tomorrow and check to see what type he has put in. Please keep the comments coming.
Audio Research 100.2 amp
I owned one for quite a while and only sold it because it I needed more power for my new, larger speakers . The sound was spectacular and I really did not want to let it go. I replaced the 100.2 with a 150.2 after using a buddy's 150.2 on a trial ...
PMC Speakers:"Best Buy"or just another speaker?
I had the chance to audition the OB-1 as part of my two year speaker search. I found them emotionally challenged. They did nothing particularly wrong or right--simply an uninspiring transducer that left me totally unimpressed. Given the technology...
Advice about warm, gentle speakers...
The other brand that comes to mind is Vandersteen. Not sure if they will work within your space constraints, however.
1st, most memorable recording...
When I was in high school I visited a local high end shop and they put on the MFSL version of the Greatful Dead American Beauty. The first song was Ripple over a M & K satellite/subwoofer system and I was like "Wow"! From that moment on I've b...
Advice about warm, gentle speakers...
I would suggest you investigate Harbeth's. While under your budget by a long shot they will provide a warm and inviting sound with your electronics. I'd consider the Super HL-5's or the Compact 7ES-2's depending on room size. BTW, if you have $4K ...
Full-range Floorstanders: Can you recommend?
What you seem to be looking for is a pair of Daedalus DA-1's. Given your preferences I have to say this will be a spot on match. If you want a "live" sounding speaker look no further. Do a search on the Audiogon and see my extensive reviews as wel...
Naim Recapping
"They still make a great CDP" Agreed.
Vandersteen Quatro vs. GMA Calypso
I know you didn't ask for opinions about other speakers and at the risk of offering one you may want to check out the Daedalus DA-1's. I haven't heard the GMA design you refer to but I have heard the Quatro on several occasions/locations for lengt...
Naim Recapping
"Except a new one costs >$5000". Exactly. And for what? A great amp that will drive any British two-way in a moderate size room. Hey, I was a fan when the folks at Naim made sense.
Naim Recapping
That once you've joined the cult you won't ask questions like these and instead will pay up like the rest of the zombies? Really, $750 to "recap" a 10 year old NAP 250? At that rate I may as well buy a new one......OHHHHHH, I get it!
Speakers for NAIM amp/preamp
I'd look at the Harbeth HL5 Super. They sound great with anything but are regularly paired with Naim electronics, offering a warm and musical sound to complement the Naim gear. I haven't heard the Avalon but after extensive audition I liked the Ha...
Waltz for Debby-Bill Evans Trio
Thanks, folks. I picked up a few new ideas for gifties--to me! I second the Acoustic Sounds "Greatest 100 Jazz Titles" 45rpm series--I wish I had the money to buy them all. Also, the Miles Davis Prestige Years Box Set is fantastic--got that one as...
MAPLESHADE RECORDINGS
I agree with Jsujo. Good sound but left me flat and I sold them.
