Super Cheap Upgrade
I too have benefited from this "mod" and highly recommend it. Suggest all serious music lovers/audiophiles schedule an ENT appt. at least once per year. Whether a co-pay or the full ticket, the $$ spent offer the best payoff. A plus is the fact th...
Original VPI Aries vs VPI classic 3
Do yourself a favor and get away from the VPI upgraditis, audio nervosa stuff-- hopefully forever. If you want to make a change make it a real change.

Are two smaller subs better than one larger?
Another resounding YES.

London/Decca Super Gold ==== LIVEST sounding cartridge I've ever heard. Kinda been "the route" during the last 40 years.
Using Brillianize remove Static
I've been using it sucessfully on CDs and DVD for a couple of years --- never even thought about using on vinyl. Unless buffed out vigorously with a high quality microfiber cloth it will leave a "smokey" haze on the silver disks. I can't imagine g...
Anyone got GR Research Super V
I'm using a speaker similar to the Super V -- the Hawthorne Audio SSI Trios. The main 15" coaxial driver is well handled by a pair of (modded) Quicksilver Audio Mini-Monos. Much more info on "optimizing" these if interested.

"The problem with the Well Tempered Simplex and Amadeus is Opera Audio is building them in China for Well Tempered Labs. The Simplex could be the best sounding $2k table, but WTL needs to be more upfront about where the Simplex/Amadeus are manufac...

BTW: Using the Decca SG on a Well Tempered Amadeus TT --- a "marriage made in heaven" IMO.These carts do best with a well damped, i.e."tempered" arm. :-)
Cartridge Experts
Sarcher30, tracks at least as well as any cart I've owned -- and that's PLENTY of them over the last 35 yrs.

A shorter cantilever can make for a more direct and lively sound. Currently using a Decca London Super Gold that essentially has really no cantilever. It's the "livest" sounding cartridge that I've owned/heard.

marantz 10b and 10b tubes
"Better to spend money on getting it aligned and let the tech tell you what tubes are not up to snuff."Agreed -- getting it to a good tech who knows the 10B is a very worthwhile investment for this treasure.
Well Tempered Signature turntable and arm
"01-02-12: DoverI owned the original Well Tempered years ago, and sold and set up quite a few over the years. The latest golfball version is a joke. It is simply an exercise of how to reduce the manufacturing costs and claim it's better. I would r...
Audio Technica AT-33PTG vs Denon 103R cartridge
Tobes: Yep, the Series II is a bit of a different animal. I haven't heard it. The coil resistance is different too - 17 ohm for the Series I vs. 10 ohm for the series II. This too could affect how well they match with various phono preamps/and SUT...
