Gungnir sound before and after multi-bit upgrade? Hi gdhal,Glad to see that you have decided to pursue a fine DAC. I don’t have answers to your questions and I doubt anyone else does (outside of Schiit themselves and maybe they don’t either). I have extensive first-hand experience with procuremen...
Jazz for aficionados Tidal. Buried deep. Hope you enjoy lalitk!Dave
Full MQA music list. Been getting frequent emails from Tidal announcing their "exclusive" promotions and urging members to listen. Seems that they have plenty of resources for that. This month this far:1) Taylor Swift2) Mount Joy "Where I'm From"3) Indochine "13"4) Arc...
Jazz for aficionados I've been hung up lately on Billy Strayhorn & Johnny Hodges "Juice a Plenty". Great tunes and musicianship (IMO) and the sound quality is phenomenal.Dave
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers... Can't argue with that, shadorne, but I wonder how many of us are overlooking this free/low cost opportunity to achieve better sound quality and instead spending big $$ on fixes that have negative consequences...Dave
DC power supply reviews for AQVOX switch The nagging question for me is, "Why aren't these guys and those like them producing a superior hub/router/modem?" There has to be low hanging fruit there compared to the flyweight plastic, consumer mass-market offerings with the faster products a...
Full MQA music list. Too much time as a "work in progress" may end in Tidal MQA becoming a "work in congress". Dave
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers... Actually that is not always true. Depends on the speaker. Multiple high/high-mid frequency drivers for instance. How about the Tekton Lore? You would have to sit on the floor. Best to determine by measurements but short of that listening tests.Dave
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers... There ya go, kalali. :) I learned the same info (yet different height of 36") from JA’s measurements of my CS5i’s and it made all the difference when I boosted my sofa to achieve exactly that height. Dave
Full MQA music list. mr m,The issue here is the poor job that Tidal itself does at creating a central repository for MQA titles. Why should paying customers have to resort to a spreadsheet to identify MQA titles, or worse, only find them by happenstance? The "Masters" ...
Turntable and Rack vibration control Can we please keep this to topics regarding vibration control? Please?Dave
Why are tweeters so high off of the ground in many tower speakers... A competently designed speaker will use the vertical dispersion characteristics of the tweeter (and upper midrange) drivers to great advantage to provide realistic and natural perceived height of performers and instruments in the soundstage as wel...
center channel speakers - Martin Logan vs Definitive Technology? If your processor has a "Phantom Center Channel" setting where it eliminates the center channel output and reprocesses that signal to the front left and right speakers you should try that and forego the center channel speaker entirely. If done pro...
Best speakers for Pioneer SX-1250 receiver Vintage monster receivers are a whole different audio experience and would not be my choice for a system aimed at accurate sound reproduction. I have several (Kenwood KR 9600, (2) Marantz 2325, Sansui G9000, and Pioneer SX-1050) and enjoy listenin...
DC power supply reviews for AQVOX switch Thanks toetap. I like the tip about grounding and have heard similar. What are you guys using upstream of the switch to convert ISP's RG6 to Ethernet? Looks like that would be the place to address data loss - "jitters"? Dave |
