cables for apogee duetta II
Straightwire Crescendo. They will give the Duettas bass bloom like no other wire and are very open and dynamic. Much better than Symo(which I owned also when I had Apogees Duetta Signatures).I have a pair if you would like to try them.
Power Receptacles - Review and Comparison
Hi Sns,I have read all of Duster's excellent posts on the combination of plugs and power receptables (and IEC receptacles) and it is consistent with my experience as well. The compatibility (or lack thereof) of the various metallurgies indeed make...

Power Receptacles - Review and Comparison
Sns,It would indeed take some effort to cover all the combinations and permutations of each power cord with each receptacle.I'll make you a deal though: You tell me how you built those hug honkin' DIY tubes traps in your listening room and I'll tr...
Power Receptacles - Review and Comparison
Dear Al,Here is my best attempt at addressing your questions/concerns:Q: Were the differences you perceived typically immediately recognizable, on the first recording you listened to after switching receptacles, or did they only become apparent af...

The metal faceplates are non-magnetic so I assume they are non-ferrous (aluminum?). I now have the Tesla Plex mounted in the Oyaide WPC-Z faceplate assembly, but the Porter Port Hubbell 8300 has the metal faceplate. I can try the nylon one to see ...

Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
Hi Al,You are correct: I did (and do) make decisions based largely on my intuition and judgement. However, I also remain open to input and give the opinions and experience of subject-matter experts high priority in the decision matrix. Then, I oft...
Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
Ledinhhien,I recently installed three dedicated lines - two 30 amp and one 20 amp. I used standard 10 gauge Romex. The whole job cost $500 through a licensed electrician who does new construction work and he and his assistant completed the whole j...
Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
Dear Almarg,I find it interesting that you repeatedly assert that power cords make no sonic difference based solely on your keen deduction abilities derived from your graduate-level engineering education. You make no mention of experimenting with ...
Effective AC power conditioners for digital??
I have a Chang Lightspeed CLS6400ISO conditioner and a Furman IT-Reference 20i. With my Ayre CX-7e CDP, the Chang makes a very slight improvement (maybe) and the sound takes a step backwards with the Furman (although this is an excellent condition...
Problem with Ayre C-7xe CD player?
Hi,A few months ago, I bought a CX-7 used and it had problems reading some discs - upon loading, the display would just continue to go around for about twice the normal time, I would hear a slight 'scraping' noise from inside the player, and then ...
LessLoss DFPC versus LessLoss BTB
I know that this is not a direct answer to your question but you might consider the Tel-Wire power cord as an alternative to the LessLoss. It comes with the new Oyaide 004 beryllium plugs and some trustworthy ears like it better than the LessLoss....
