Which cable do you think is most important? "My system is in my living room and those tweaks would not pass WAF."Having invested many, many, many $1000's in cabling and less than $1000 in DIY acoustical treatment, my experience is that all make a big difference, but the acoustical treatment...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments? Scottmac62,I had the exact experience that Tbg had with the Hologram A on my Ayre K-1xe pre. Total flop. It was way too full and warm (the bass slam was awesome though) and it lost a ton of image specificity vs the T2. Based on Joeyboynj's opposit...
Lexicon BD-30 universal player Hey Kal,It would be great to include the NuForce modded version as well - may be the best of the bunch!
Best preamp fpr AR Classic speakers? A used Ayre AX-7e integrated amp would work great (around $2k here on Agon).Good luck.
Power cord for PurePower2000 Huh. Interesting. I will have to tell my friend this. Thanks.
Best interconnect for bass only Bullot is definitely onto something with his suggestion that the quality of AC delivery may affect overall sound, including bass, more than ICs. Adding a Synergistic Research Powercell 10SE substantially improved the quantity, tonal quality, and d...
Power cord for PurePower2000 If your PurePower 2000 is the same one that a friend of mine has, it has a battery that stores energy such that the incoming AC is not fed directly to the equipment, but stored in the battery first and then supplied to the components. If that is t...
Cable I am also an advocate of the "loom" approach, but I think the ultimate results are dependent on:1) whether the brand chosen offers a variety of cable signatures to be mixed and matched to achieve the sound you desire. This approach differs from mi...
budget amp for Apogee Duetta2's? Another vote for Classe' Audio 25. Used one for years (bought it new in 1989, still have it, never a moments trouble) with Apogee Stages and then Duetta Signatures. Really works well with Apogees. Great amp in your price range and built like a tan...
To audyssey or not to audyssey, that is the ...? I bought a Onkyo Pro PR-SC885P processor (same as Integra 9.8) a little over 2 years ago and use it to drive the HT portion of my system, running the Main L/R channels through my 2 channel music system's preamp (in bypass mode) and the center and ...
Denon 4310 or Integra 9.9 The Integra 9.9 is not a receiver but a processor while the Denon 4310 is a true receiver with a 130w/ch amplifier section.I have an Onkyo Pro PR-SC885P (same as the Integra 9.8) which is the predecessor to the 9.9. It is an outstanding unit for t...
Ayre KX-R or Krell 202 with Martin Logans BTW - I use an Ayre K-1xe preamp with my Krell FPB-600C amp and the pairing produces excellent sound. If the KX-R is a bit forward (not sure that I agree with that assessment though), it should offset the slightly dark character of your Krell amp ...
Ayre KX-R or Krell 202 with Martin Logans CJ does make excellent tube gear. However, it is single ended which probably won't agree with your Krell amp as well as a fully differentially balanced preamp design.
Hi Fi Tuning Fuses & Ayre I have Isoclean fuses as the mains fuses in my CX-7eMP and K-1xe power supply. In virgin form, they provide a slight improvement in air and detail and a tad better treble extension. There are three tweaks that make a significant improvement:1) hav...
What direction should Hi Fi tune fuse be installed I use IsoClean fuses that have an arrow on the glass body of the fuse. I tried them both ways and decided that the sound was better with the arrow pointing in the direction of the current flow. For mains fuses: With the power cabled unplugged from... |
