Help ! Best MC cartridge for Linn LP12?
There are also some VPI Avengers on US Audiomart I would take a look at depending on your interest.  Always have been a VPI fan and their customer service is great.  The Avenger allows any tonearm you'd ever want to use.  Very user-friendly table.
Linn LP12......That good??
there are some great deals are reference VPI Avengers on Audiomart.   I've always been a VPI fan and the Avengers can accommodate any tonearm you'd want to use in the future.  the HRX is a massive table and takes up a lot of space.
Not Enough Options for Auditioning Speakers
Mobius,I’ve owned the Sonus Faber Olympica III. Based on your room dimensions of 12 x 17, I don’t think that will be enough room for the III’s. I was in a regular rectangular room that was 22 x16 and they worked well. They need about 2-3 from the ...
Power cables and sharp dimensional imaging on a budget, Zu Audio and Furutech or Oyaide
I've heard mixed results about anti cables.  If you are trying to get the biggest bang for your buck and looking for all you described in your original post, I would buy a good set of used cables.  I've heard and owned multiple brands and the best...
Audio Valve Sunlida Phonostage vs Zesto Andros 1.2
Don't know about the Audio Valve phono, but I currently own the Zesto Andros 1.2 and has been the best phono stage I've had in my system.  Something just seems right about the Zesto - very musical and refined and balanced.  Even better if you can ...
What are the more subtle sounding tube preamps?
The Herron preamp and the newer VAC preamps are all neutral sounding - do not have the traditional tube sound.  Less midrange focus, and more soundstage extension and definitely tighter more pronounced bass.
Tube Phono with Tube Integrated Amp?
I've had a Primaluna HP Integrated with a Zesto Andros 1.2 phono stage and couldn't be happier.  If you can get a used Zesto, it is the best value in my opinion.  Best of luck.
Need advice about upgrading speakers ( it might be the last one i own).
I understand if your budget doesn't allow, but the Elipsa SEs fit smaller rooms much easier than the Olympica III and probably even the Cremonas.  There is a thread on audioafficianado.org about fitting in even smaller rooms.
Need advice about upgrading speakers ( it might be the last one i own).
I second the Sonus Faber recommendation. Some Elipsas are used on audiogon and audiomart (including an SE version). The olympicas are also nice. I’d also maybe consider Harbeth, but all these speakers and manufacturers have different unique sounds...
recommendations of phono preamps < $3000 range
jimpittsburgh, are you currently in Pittsburgh?  if so, i'm also in the burgh.   I have the Zesto Andros 1.2 maybe we can demo in your system.  I may put it up for sale as well.  just a thought if you were local.  PM me if you want to discuss.  Goo...
recommendations of phono preamps < $3000 range
Recommend the Zesto Andros 1.2 over the parasound, manley, etc.   You can likely get one used for around your max budget.   The Zesto has a lot more loading options, a very refined and musical sound... just has a "rightness" to it when you listen ...
Sonus Faber Homage Tradition - New 2017 Line
Have you ever heard the Strad or the Elipsa SEs?   I owned the Olympica and definitely agree with you about them being veiled.  I think the Guarneri Evos follow the same suit, as well as the Amati Futura.  Going to the Elipsa SE was a big differen...
Best Tube Amp For Sonus Faber? Or Pass XA-100.5? $6-7,500 Budget, Purchasing Used.
Nightfall,I'm also on audio asylum, but you can just feel free to PM me on audiogon.
Best Tube Amp For Sonus Faber? Or Pass XA-100.5? $6-7,500 Budget, Purchasing Used.
You may be right about the Primaluna - I haven't used NOS tubes yet, so it may be all you need with whatever reference amp you end up with.  I've told by many that the the preamp selection will influence the sound a lot...  The Herron was recommen...
Best Tube Amp For Sonus Faber? Or Pass XA-100.5? $6-7,500 Budget, Purchasing Used.
Nightfall,Remember that the Olympica III is moderately efficient at 90+db.  so even if it dips low with the ohms briefly, there is more at play with how well an amp can drive speakers.  The VAC dealer on the audio shark forum commented that the 10...
