Best DAC for over 2000
EAR Yoshino DAC 4 - does DSD as well.  The most analog sounding DAC I've heard.    It has 4 tube output, very resolving but the midrange is definitely the best I've heard out of a digital component.
EAR Acute Classic - has anyone heard or tried it
Manufacturers now using their own algorithms, DAC chips have significantly improved, circuitry advancements…..  So many factors contribute to a sonic difference (though it may look the same).  Doesn't necessarily make it better, but they are diffe...
EAR Acute Classic - has anyone heard or tried it
I would say that if you weren't satisfied with the Acute 3Charyo,  I stated that I loved the sound of the Acute 3, but only felt the DAC is a little dated.  Not sure I understand what you can gather from a price point - why couldn't a newer model ...
EAR Acute Classic - has anyone heard or tried it
The "4" is a separate DAC with separate CD transport.  It came out 2 years ago.  The DAC is $8000 and the CD transport is another $5000.  The Acute Classic just got release a couple of months ago.  It is a single unit which is a CD and DAC, retail...
New EAR Yoshina Acute CD Player?
Has anyone heard the new EAR Acute Classic that just came out?  Any opinions on it?
Best SACD/CD player
melbguy1,  I am looking for an EAR Dac 4 if you know any dealers that may have an demo or used on.  Feel free to message me or let me know if you have any connections.  Thanks!
music. on vinyl
I heard a couple of their pressings and didn't like them at all.  Purchased the "When Harry Met Sally" Soundtrack Harry Connick LP and hated it.  Definitely was a digital sound and copy.  I then bought an original pressing from 1989 on discogs and...
up to $2,500 to spend............
I also hear Modwright is a good option too.  Scott from Vivahifi raves about the Modwright for being a great value option, smooth and non- fatiguing sound.  This would also be a tubed CD player.
up to $2,500 to spend............
Based on your wants in sound quality, that would lean heavily toward a tube based CD player.  I used the EAR Acute 3 in the past, put Amperex 7308 tubes in it, and was exactly what you are talking about.  These are my tastes as well.  It only did ...
Audio Research PH6 Phono Stage - How is it?
jadegrenade410,I am in the process of selling my Prime turntable and selling the Quintet Black on it.  It only has about 100 hours on it and was purchased the same time I bought the Prime (2015) from Soundstage Direct.  If you want to buy, message...
Any comments on Synergistic Research Atmosphere
I have the Platinum series from Wywires in all of my connections - phono cable, speaker cables, interconnects and love what they do for my system.  It really brings everything together.  For context, my system is Primaluna HP Integrated Amp, VPI P...
Sonus Faber Olympica III speaker placement
From the back wall, are these measurement to the front of the speaker (where the tweeter is, etc), or the back of the speaker?  The Olympicas are pretty elongated so that would make a big difference.  I will start experimenting.  On one of the sid...
DAC Choices today?
Frontier1,  Did you end up replacing the EAR Acute 3?  I also have this but wondered how the current DACs stack up to the EAR?  The EAR 4 is really pricey, so not sure what to do.  I really love the EAR tube sound though and don't want to go to hi...
Audio Research PH6 Phono Stage - How is it?
jadegrenade410,I wish I could comment on the Ortofon Quintet Black MC cartridge compared to others, but this is actually the only cartridge I've owned thus far.  I've only had my vinyl playback system about a year (actually playing less than that)...
Rega RP10 or Nottingham Space 294 or VPI Prime
Let me know if you are interested in the VPI Prime.   I'm looking to upgrade to a Classic 4 with two tonearms and plan on selling my Prime I purchased in 2015.  Trying to decide whether to trade it in or sell it privately or on Audiogon.  If any i...
