Harbeth 40.1 vs Sonus Faber Olympia III
My dealer just got a pair of 40.1s in on trade. Feel free to PM me and will give you his info if you are interested.  Best of luck with whatever you decide to get.. they are both fantastic speakers.  The nice thing about the Harbeths is you can us...
Replacement for speaker binding post
aolmrd1241,What do you mean by "Support"?  They won't sell you a part or anything if you bought a speaker used that is now discontinued?  If you purchased a Sonus Faber speaker that has been discontinued, customers don't have the option to buy a n...
Help me pick a phono, pre and cart
I preferred the Zesto Andros phono pre over the Herron, but that is just me.  Different sounding phono stages, and the Herron is definitely more Neutral sounding and sounds more like a solid state phono stage.  Depends on what sound you're looking...
Raven Audio/nighthawk or Osprey
Willgolf, Which Sonus Faber speakers do you have that the Raven Integrated drives well?  Curious, because I always read that SF speakers need a ton of power to drive well.
Sonus Faber Alternatives That Offer Similar Sound and Performance, your expertise needed!
nightfall, what did you end up deciding on as a replacement for the Olympica IIIs?
New or Old CD Player?
The EAR Yoshino Acute Classic is the best I've heard for REDBOOK cd's.  The most analog sounding I've come across.   Finding one used would be within your budget most likely.   The Acute Classic is the most recent version from EAR, having done Acu...
Has Anyone Uesed A PrimaLuna Amp With Harbeth Speaker's
An acquaintance has Harbeth's with Quicksilver tube amps and sounded really nice.  There is a pair of Quicksilver mono blocks for sale on audiogon now that I think were similar to the ones he had:  https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis8eh0e-quicks...
KEF Q950 or Harbeth 30.2
I heard both the 30.2 and the SHL5+ side by side and didn't care for the SHL5+.  If you like the 30.2 it doesn't mean you will like the SHL5+ (and vice versa).  The 30.2 sound more balanced top to bottom and a better overall speaker to my ears.  I...
Phono Stage Recommendation $3000
Also consider an EAR 324 MM/MC phono preamp.  Retail is around $6k but there is a used one available on Audiogon now for sale within your budget.  Very versatile and though a solid state phono preamp, it doesn't sound solid state.  After speaking ...
Focal Kanta No.2 speakers - any thoughts? Also in comparison with Sonus Faber Olympica 3s?
rsure,I have owned the Primaluna HP and used it with the Sonus Faber Olympica IIIs for about a year or so.  I am also looking at the Focal Kantas for my next speaker as well but haven't had the chance to listen to them yet - hopefully soon.  Feel ...
Transfiguration cartridges. What tube phono stages would you use them with ?
My dealer uses the Transfiguration Axia and Proteus with the Zesto phono stage.  Sounds superb.  Let me know if you want to connect with him and I'll pass on his info.
What direction is VPI headed?
tooblue,With those extra armwands, I would bypass the Prime Signature and go for the Avenger.  There are even some used Avengers on Audiomart.  I've owned the Prime and then went to an Avenger, and everything opened up - clarity, soundstage, black...
Member's recommendations for tube amplification
The Viva Audio amps fit your criteria almost exactly.  Not warm - very lively and dynamic.  They are Single Ended Triode in the upper teens and lower 20 watt range, but can easily drive most speakers.
2017 Honest Cabling that doesn’t promote bankruptcy
Wywires cables - their Platinum series is the best bang for the buck in their line.  Find some used cables which can often be had for about 50% off retail and performance vs. value will go a lot further.
turntable/cartridge for old 50's 60's rock records.
there are some used Avengers on Audiomart I'd take a look at if your budget was under $10k.   Not sure what you're looking for being your post was a little older.  Best of luck.
