Costliest Brainfart I would say that if you haven’t had one of theses experiences there’s definitely something wrong. It’s almost an ongoing right of passage for audiophiles. I’m with you!
Thank You Fumihiko Sugano and Koetsu Sad to hear this. This makes me appreciate my koetsu even more. I hope these wonderfully handcrafted pieces continue.
How is Quality and Customer Service defined in the 21st Century? After Covid customer service is non existent everywhere. I hope quality doesn’t suffer a similar fate. With inflation and the economy where it’s at today manufacturers will be forced to make products even cheaper. Its certainly not like it used to...
RIP Jimmy Buffett I am so sad over this. He was a big part of my high school years here in Florida. A total shock that’s too close to home and my own mortality. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
The perfect size double box I have found that FedEx stores have real nice assortment of boxes for shipping. I’ve used them for shipping audio components. I’ve tried Lowe’s and Home Depot but their sizes aren’t right for most low profile electronics.
WiFi Streaming Versus An Ethernet Cable Connection Fiber optic break in a direct wired Ethernet connection. Easy to do, and cheap. I listen to quobuz and it’s as good as my local files.
Home network Fibre optic vs Ethernet If you have this opportunity please do your audio system a favor go with fiber!
Warranty repair wait times - serious industry problem?? Just had a C28 and a MC30 repaired by Audio Classics and in both cases it took 4 months. I know that’s vintage gear but I would expect the same with warranty items as well. Not enough techs and too much business I would assume.
Midrange Increasingly Harsh +1 @knotscott took the words right out of my mouth!
Why Can't Modern Tube Manufacturers Make a Proper Tube? Small market for vacuum tubes I guess and not a current technology like it was back in the day. Relegated to a small niche, retro, antiquated, and vintage applications..sad but there are companies like Western Electric who see some market potentia...
What's a Good Way to Buy Music Collections? I think you’re probably heading into uncharted territory here. I’ve never seen or heard of people selling ripped music collections except those that may be included with purchasing a used component with the music already loaded on to it. @yyzsa...
TT cable question +1 @lewm
Is low cost DAC worth it? +1 @yyzsantabarbara Schitt is a great low cost option, also a great option is the iFi signature DAC and their new streamer. The pair will give you all the FLAC and DSD native (not converted to FLAC) resolutions you need. I have the pair for a vin...
If the DAC is the same, how different do CD transports sound? I think the differences are more about build quality, features, and the ability to read cds ie error correction, buffer etc. I’d like to think my McIntosh transport sounds better than others, and maybe it does, but it can read cds other players ca...
Immersive Audio and How to Achieve It @kota1 I’m familiar with immersive audio, I guess I should have been more clear, I’m not knocking it, binaural, 5.1 surround or other ways people are trying to change the traditional home audio listening experience. As an audiophile, I just prefe... |
