Why aren't Rush fans more audiophile-natured?
Did anyone watch this week's episode of "The Bridge"? A Rush T-shirt and a stack of vintage stereo components were significant plot points.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I have SS's $500 turn-key F9 assembly that includes extruded alum holder, new-production suspension, ruby cantilever, and OCL stylus. It's been awhile since I've had it mounted, but I recall that it sounded great with no anomalies. Maybe this a go...
Trans-fi Terminator T3PRO opinions please...
PS. I wouldn't bother with the digital caliper. The VTA tower calibrations are sufficient to obtain precise repeatable adjustments. And with this arm your ear will tell you EVERYTHING.
Trans-fi Terminator T3PRO opinions please...
Go4vinyl, I've moved through several iterations of Terminator to what is essentially a modified T3Pro. My version includes a custom pivot with a built-in socket that accomodates standard removable headshells. Vic has on occasion offered this set-u...

For once I agree with EBM. Let's fund the Donald out of his jam!
Best Rock Album of 2014
John Hiatt- Terms of My Surrender. This is Haitt's best mature work by a country mile. Other than Dylan(and hopefully Hiatt still has ten years to catch up with Bob) there is no grander master straddling rock, country, blues, and unaffected Americ...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Pkoegz, FWIW the Audiopoints on the Star Sound platforms are un-ostentatious solid brass and will not be mistaken for gold plate or jewelry.
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
There is so much marketing hokum surrounding footers and their costs can be so great that it is absurd for any audiophile worth his moniker to make a cut based only on aesthetics. On trousers maybe, though in custom tailoring whether ones "dresses...
FYI Pink Floyd
BTW, the new double-LP Division Bell sounds fantastic and easily surpasses the original blue vinyl.
Pass Labs Amp X350.5 or X350.8 anyone compare?
Joecasey, The .8 monos are my first Pass amps. I've heard .5s only at shows, and too long ago for comparison.
Review Stillpoints Ultra Mini
On the matter of ephemera, in manliness as in audio:“There are moments, Jeeves, when one asks oneself, 'Do trousers matter?'""The mood will pass, sir.” P.G. Wodehouse, The Code of the Woosters
Pass Labs Amp X350.5 or X350.8 anyone compare?
It's an endlessly interesting hobby. This evening I removed an Afghan rug from between the .8 amps(on Stillpoint Ultra SS with coupling bases) and Merlin VSM(on Stillpoint Ultra 5). This redressed the frequency imbalance with a more prominent uppe...
Pass Labs Amp X350.5 or X350.8 anyone compare?
I sense as well that the XA-160.8s have mostly settled in by 75 hours. I can see how some might perceive the .8 palette as slightly dark or tilted down. However this is deceptive, as there is also ginormous resolving power in the treble and upper ...
"New" Beatles Mono Catalog Release on 180gr Vinyl
Czarivey, If one can believe Abbey Road engineer Paul Hicks, the mono tapes are in good condition. As quoted from Sound on Sound:Because of their importance, the analogue masters had been scrupulously maintained and archived. “All the Beatles tap...
Pass Labs Amp X350.5 or X350.8 anyone compare?
This was my experience as well. The large PS caps need more time to form. Keep your chin up for at least 40-50 hours of signal.
