Do I even need or want a preamp?
Thanks for the nice compliment Tubeears. I really did like the Reference Line passive (it's for sale BTW:>) It worked wonderfully with my now sold BAT P5 phono stage acting as nothing more than a volume attenuator, leaving all the dynamics and ...
Do I even need or want a preamp?
This is an interesting thread for me as I was a die-hard "no preamp" guy for about the last 10 years or so. I almost always bought CDP's that either had a variable out, or ones that had lots of gain/voltage. Well, recently on the persuasive sugges...
Consonance Droplet
Tomahack - I've owned my Droplet for about 6 mos. and if Larry's favorable (and accurate)comments were not enough, let me just say that it is probably the biggest over-achiever in reasonably priced CDP's currently availble. It is smooth, musical, ...
Anyone have any experience with the Esoteric X-03?
Brysto - I decided to bite the bullet and go for the U-3SE as it is indentical to the X-03 (albiet slightly higher $$) but will cover all formats out there including DVD-A. Will report back on my immpressions after a break-in period...
Anyone heard Cerious Technologies speakers?
I would like to see (read) some updates on this thread.Anyone else out there tried these speakers? Looks like this company has gone to great lengths to diminish cabinet resonance and use top-flight drivers and x-over designs...anyone?
Anyone have any experience with the Esoteric X-03?
Has anyone auditioned the new X-03"SE" version out there? Does anyone know what the retail price is for the SE?
How do you have your Droplet cdp hooked up?
Driver - could you elaborate? What specific areas did you feel were improved using the Atma-Sphere? Thanks.
Nuforce
Stehno - thanks for updating this thread. Maybe we can catch the "Preamp deal of the century" thread!I've had my 9.02's for about three months now and continue to be amazed and impressed. I will be sending mine in for the SE upgrade, though I fran...
Audio Experience 100w monoblocks anyone?
Anybody out there in audio-land tried a pair of these yet?? (Seems like a lot 'o bang for the buck, especially with the balanced/xlr input...)
CD Players With Balanced Variable Outputs?
Springbok - is the variable output an option on the APL/Denon 3910? (My understanding was that this unit had fixed outputs only).
Which Tube Phono Stage around $1k?
Would second the BAT P5 recommendation. If you saw any pics of the inside of this beast (it weighs 40lbs.) you would be amazed that it could even be sold for under $4k, let alone around $1k used...
CD Players With Balanced Variable Outputs?
- Opera Audio "Droplet"- Audio Aero "Capitol" series

Great! They should make it through shipping with no problem - yet another big advantage of weighing only 7 lbs ea. I think you're in for a real sonic treat. Let us all know what you think
Consonance as a brand-musical or not?
Hi Dumboat. I own a Droplet and love it. It replaced a four year old Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 (not the latest or the SE version) but still considered a fairly heavy hitter, even today. I think the tubes in my Capitole were close to needing repla...

Keep checking the used listings - they go fast when they do occassionaly pop up (that and the fact that you rarely see any 9.02's used should you something).Good luck!
