This is bragging as I own/use these items and consider them all to be top notch, yet affordable products that have broken the price/performance barrier that is of concern to many of us.Sakura OTA cable kit, don't know the name of the designer(s)Ke...
Bummer ELCO digital cable
Try running them in for approx. 150 hours. You do not need to have the volume up, just run a signal through the IC and have the selector on your amp (preamp, whatever) to that position. My solid core silver analog IC's (different manufacturer) wen...
UNBELEIVABLY BAD SERVICE - ELECTRAGLIDE
Rhagen: U.S. washers and dryers (and some air conditioners) used to be commonly placed on 220 volt lines and I assume that the wall outlets would have been rated for such (not 110). Does anyone know if this is the case? Maybe 220 volts would be cl...
Musical Fidelity A3CD
No, I do not believe so, just silver and gold. Not my cup of tea either.
Hardwood floors vs Carpet
Khrys: I currently have zero traditional room treatment (just a listening room full of literally thousands of objects which include books and other collections). The walls are pretty much covered with paintings on canvas (the right wall is partial...
Pet Stories
Our five living cats are named: Darryll Cooper, Elliott Ross, Martin Keil-Ross, Eddie Haskell (the neighbor's cat whom we adopted when he moved to NYC, the neighbor that is, as he, Eddie, lived at our place anyway and always had the manners to com...
Problem running two sets of speakers
Try running the kitchen speakers (alone) and see if you have the same volume problem.
Hate to ask......
Felthove: This has always been my pet peeve about auditioning speakers in shops (which are full of other speakers). Perhaps some sort of speaker covers for the center and surrounds, might help to clear up this problem.
"Ringing from pre-amp
Swampwalker: Other than tapping the tubes to check for microphonics, you can also try using 4 Sovteks to two Siemens and trying out different combos of this to find the tube. Siemens E88cc's are not generaly prone to microphonics, but there are al...
Have you "lied" to yourself?
Yes, I have tried many things that did not work, but they were all either on home demo or a 30 day trial. The few things that I have purchased outright without audition fortunately did work out (and I am not fooling myself about this). Eventually,...
no body is buying anything on audiogon
I just purchased something this past Friday (from a seller with zero feedback and I pre-paid). The deciding factor was that he has a good last name (right up there with O'Leary). Based on this I may qualify becoming a member of Bush's cabinet (I d...
AMPLIFIED MUSIC: AM I LIMITED TO SOLID S
Markman: For a SS amp I think that the Electrocompaniet power amp (that Doug "Sedond" @ this site has been trying to sell forever) might make a nice match with your Merlins. It would also be easy on the budget as I believe that he was only asking ...
Harvey Rosenberg R.I.P.
I think that I remember him from a long time ago (I have not read the Hi-fi mags for many years). Are any of his reviews available on line, that I can view? Better late than never.
Pet Stories
Our latest episode (5 cats) involves attempted pee piping of the right speaker in the living room setup. We have a small place and though the speakers are on 28" stands the dining table is in fairly close proximity to the right speaker (the object...
Hate to ask......
I don't hate it, I just do not watch movies anymore (maybe three in the last ten years). I recently picked up the two CD set "Critic's Choice, Leonard Maltin's Best Movie Themes, of the 90's" so that I can listen to some of the music that I have m...
