Audio Research VSi75 - End of Tube Life? KT120 vs KT150?
@mapman my tube preamp is 1 volt output line stage = 20 dB, and input impedance on my Cary SA-200.2 solid state amplifier was 22K Ohms RCA-unbalanced. This got very LOUD at 10-11’oclock, starting at 7’oclock on the volume control. Had plenty of ga...
Audio Research VSi75 - End of Tube Life? KT120 vs KT150?
@mapman  ... I use a ARC tube pre-amp with Class D amps in my system. That combo adds just a subtle touch of warmth (compared to similar setup I have with no tubes) and with no softening or rounding of the sound. Perfect for me!   Interesting....

@rshad0000 re: KT150s, ..."I’d call it more neutral sounding. Definitely not as warm as the 120s. In my system I have warmer cables so the KT150s appealed to me more and seem to have better synergy. Both are great but different. Go with the 120s...

@cowan217 Congratulations on securing a pair of Sabrinas and experiencing a good transaction.  Glad it worked out and you found a good dealer to work with.  If you don't mind the ask, or I missed it, what amplifier(s) are you planning to use to d...

Anyone remember the unique wood SS-M speakers Sony made for a while. SS-M3, M7, M9?. Sounded pretty nice as I recall. I preferred the mid level model SS-M7 3-way quite a bit. Higher quality appeal to them in person when they came out.   ...

@audioguy85 The Jensen System 400 and 500....value for money and fantastic sound.  Indeed...and a few pics of the Jensen System 500..., and hey what's that rear firing thing-ma-bob tweet on the top back side? 😆
OK-- I think I get it, now...
[@boxer12] Decooney, You can be both a music lover & a audiophile. They are meant to go together. Woah. Not sure what I was thinking. Hmm,  I'll get to work on that. Thanks for the tip. :)    All joking aside, most of my 50+ year in a...

To [@oldhvymech], Interesting. Not sure where this photo came from, I went to a PAP listening session years back and heard these same units. It was an evaluator rep here in NorCal, he had the same hard floors and drapes to the side :) The speakers...

@stuartk hopefully after you are past the point of listening to components and sound, you'll get back to being a music lover. A great place to start and end.
Struggling to spend 13k with three dealers
@ghasley "Buy the new speakers, sell yours on your own." Exactly. The dealers are in business to make a profit. That’s how they exist. And, you have to ask yourself what’s in it for them, too. Driving out, sending out two people, doing a Pick-u...
