Need Feet/Spikes for Mirage OMD-15
Get a 1/4-20 bolt at the hardware store and try it for fit.
which 2.1 audio system for the PC.
A desktop is a bad place to put speakers if you want good sound.
Can't get Acoustic Zen Adagios to sound smooth
I am bothered much less by edgy CDs after having moved from various audiophile speakers to PA speakers. Now it is rare that I play something annoying. Because they are front ported and don't go low enough to excite my worst room modes I can keep t...
Is revealing always good?
Another option is to use a speaker switch box and have warm, easy-to-listen-to speakers in the front corners and higher def speakers situated more forward into the room. If the recording is harsh, press the button that changes the speakers. Or do ...
Parasound Zamp v.3 Runs Too Hot
Or use a class d amp which will run pretty much cold even into low impedances, such as Crown XLS 1500/2000/2500. Ugly but cheap and sound good.http://www.crownaudio.com/en-US/product_families/xls-drivecore
Bad idea to use pro Tannoy speakers for home use?
I like they way they look. Question is do they go deep enough in the bass or are subs needed? I live in Canada and don't seem to be able to find any steals on them around here.
Magnepan SMGa owners, is this experience typical?
If you haven't already, you could try moving the Maggies back closer to the front wall and a bit closer to the side walls.
Does JBL get a bad rap?
My home speakers are JBL Professional PA speakers. Harbeth killers? With rock music, they will play without strain at levels that would send Harbeths (and most other high end speakers)into hiding. Not the lowest lows or the highest highs but well ...
before I buy
Return privileges. If not possible, then good local support and high resale value.
Vandersteen 2C versus 2CI, 2CE, etc.
Even within a version, the components and sonics can change. See the 2CE Stereophile review, page 2:http://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/126/The 2CE (I think I may have had the early version!)goes pretty low and in my small room it overloa...
anyone try powered Mackie Hd1531 for home use?
Did you end up picking them up? If so, how do you like them so far?
anyone try powered Mackie Hd1531 for home use?
Hint: see how they sound on "The Sheffield Drum and Track Record" Tracks 5 and 6. You might fool your neighbors into thinking you've brought a drum kit into the house.

Make sure you get them on stands to raise them to the correct height. I don't think pole-mount stands would be appropriate quality for this purpose. The listening position should be far enough away such that the drivers integrate properly. I use J...
How do you determine how much to spend on speakers
If you listen to primarily rock music, don't get a set of speakers with ultra high detail resolution and spend the rest of your hobby time and savings tweaking with cables, amps and room treatments to soften the edge. Don't let your equipment chan...
Desktop speakers for mixing AND music?
Kudos to Tannoy for looking after this quickly. They are good guys in my books.
