Need help buying new speaker cable +1 acman3This is easy. Fix your Tara Lab. If you feel the need to experiment, borrow some cables from the Cable Company or from someone or somewhere else. I think you will find there is a difference between cables in your system. If you don’t he...
NO listening sessions posible , bookshelf for a Raven Nighthawk The OP is noticeably absent. The great and almighty MC has spoken. If the Raven is neutral, and he would know, maybe look to the Aerial Acoustic 5T or Sonus Faber to get the warm sound you desire
NO listening sessions posible , bookshelf for a Raven Nighthawk Final thought. Raven is one of the better companies in terms of customer service. Perhaps they could give you some feedback on a good bookshelf speaker to pair with the amp.
NO listening sessions posible , bookshelf for a Raven Nighthawk I can see where the B&W 805D3s would be a good pairing for the same reason the Focal would be — higher impedance, front ported, and a treble that can be a little bright and tamed by tubes. From what I have read, the B&Ws still benefit from...
NO listening sessions posible , bookshelf for a Raven Nighthawk I know that Raven pairs the Avian series integrated amps with their own Celeste, a 4 ohm speaker with higher sensitivity of I believe 90 dB/1 m, and supposedly it is a great pairing. They claim the high current of the amp can drive speakers with a...
NO listening sessions posible , bookshelf for a Raven Nighthawk I second the front ported 8 ohm Focal Aria 906. I would not pair that great tube integrated amp with a 4 ohm speaker period. The amp will take away the brightness of the tweeter. Great pairing for that medium-sized room.
High end high quality int. amp for low level listening IMHO, keep the Pathos and get high efficiency speakers or one with a benign impedance curve (e.g., Fritz Carrera Be, ProAc Response D2, used Joseph Audio Pulsar). I think high efficiency speakers sound better at low volumes than low to medium effi...
High end high quality int. amp for low level listening @holmzI think ditusa above answered this better than I can. I’m not an electrical engineer, but it has to do I think with the quality of the first watt. Yes 60 decibels is the same volume in two different setups, but the amount of distortion and ...
High end high quality int. amp for low level listening There aren’t too many integrated amps that double their power wattage into 4 ohms. The Levinson 5805 does (125 watts into 8 ohms, 250 into 4 ohms). If you decide to keep your speakers, I would lean towards it or one of the Hegel integrateds myself.
High end high quality int. amp for low level listening +1 @ditusa The Pathos is a great integrated amp... but it is a poor pairing with high impedance low efficiency speakers, as the OP stated in the original post. You have a choice — keep it and get 8 ohm or greater speakers with a sensitivity of i...
System building; a meditation I lost a substantial amount of hearing in one ear about 3 years after spending roughly 30K on my system, due to a cholesteatoma. I now value immediacy and dynamics, to help feel the music and stir the emotive part of the listening experience perha...
System building; a meditation Great thread Bill! Mike— where might I find the article you wrote that Patrick referenced? I don’t think I can contribute much beyond what has been posted above. I do think we have come to realize that the room is probably the most important singl...
Porsche millercarbonI attempted to edit my post above to thank you in return for bringing back some treasured memories. We had a picnic on the beach in Carmel with Ron and Nina on each of our two trips, near the Frank Lloyd Wright home that bears likeness...
Porsche Noticed that I texted above my intent 9 years ago was to purchase an 85-99 air-cooled Porsche. I’m sure most here, if they recognized the typo, realized that I meant 85-89, knowing the last air-cooled Porsche was manufactured in ‘96.
Porsche tvadNo offense taken. Appreciate the correction. I recently took an OP to task about their over abundance of commas and lack of periods. Now that is being snarky. |
