Great musicians who should have been famous except....
+1 Steve Gadd on the title track Aja. Unbelievable
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER?
I own Audio Research electronics (purchased used on the Gon), Focal & B&W speakers — what most would consider audiophile gear that delivers a refined, transparent window to the studio recording.  My wife and I moved into a new townhouse 1 ...
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
I have historically preferred high end 2 way standmount speakers.  They disappear in the room, throw a big soundstage, and offer high value IMHO. For the type of music I listen to, a lower frequency of 40 Hz is all I require. The Fritz Carrera cau...

I will private message you. Didn’t mean to hijack this thread. Thanks  Dave
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Clio09: Thank you very much for your input. I had also considered Aerial 5T’s for my den, but I really wanted to experiment with a high efficiency speaker and tube rolling. My main system (balanced) is comprised of an Audio evidence Research Refer...

I had previously read a stellar review of the Carrera 7 Be by John Richardson with Part-Time Audiophile
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Mapman, Wow— I have been looking at them, but was actually thinking of them for my main system — which doesn’t make a lot of sense, because they would be replacing another 2 way standmount with a beryllium tweeter (Focal Electra 1007 Be). Read som...

I should upgrade the tubes before selling off the Klipsch Heresys.
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Hey Mikirob—I have the stock tubes supplied with the amp, and have been thinking about upgrading them, so I would appreciate some recommendations. I was under the impression that the EL34 tubes were Tung Sol, but they are not clearly labeled as su...
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Thank you Teajay for your extended comparison of the Perfect SET and NSMT Model 50 — greatly appreciated! My wife and I moved into a wonderful townhouse 1 year ago, and about 6 months ago after quite a bit of deliberation, I purchase a Coincident ...
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Teajay: You recently gave a glowing review of the NSMT model 50 “Jamaica”. They are similar in size and cost, and both have dual front ports.  Which has better timbral accuracy and balance? Is there one that is less forward sounding? Would you pic...
Speaker suggestions
I own Klipsch Heresy IIIs for a second system in my den and love them. They do need a subwoofer however for the last octave or so, which you need for orchestral works.  I agree with tls49 that a 100 watt amp (solid state will give better bass cont...
beginner seperate system
One last thought. I myself have been looking at a tube preamp for my second system in my den ... and while a custom tube preamp from Don Sachs has been in my eyesights, I’m a little concerned about the longevity of a boutique company.  How long wi...
beginner seperate system
If you want to experiment with tubes using your current system — as suggested by many above— you will get a good taste with a tube preamp. Depending on how much you want to spend, three good choices to purchase NEW would be the Schiit Freya ($700)...
I’m pretty sure I’ve lost my mind...
You haven’t lost your mind. There are some cables that will sound better in your system to you. About 8 years ago (when my hearing was better) I home auditioned cables/interconnects from 3 different manufacturers from The Cable Company. There was ...
