new kef ls60s just arrived
We’re in Montecito, on the other side of Santa Barbara from you, probably around 15 - 20 minutes from UCSB. I look forward to hearing your setup. I have to keep an eye on the prospect of moving to a retirement community in town, with likely downsi...
new kef ls60s just arrived
I think what may be missing in the previous posts is KEF’s integration. I recently replaced Ayre separates, LS50 Metas, and KEF KC62s with LS50W II and the KC62s. The KEF DSP app for the LS50W II integrates the speakers with the subs to achieve a ...
Can a set of Ls50 metas surpass or equal a set of Kef blade metas with subwoofers
Advice to myself:  Reference 1s augmented by HGS-15s with Ayre gear sounds so good I'd be a fool to replace it.  The Reference 1s are high-passed, the HGS-15s acoustic room corrected. db
Can a set of Ls50 metas surpass or equal a set of Kef blade metas with subwoofers
I just switched from a pair of LS50 Metas with a pair of KC62s to LS50W IIs with the KC62s. I think the KEF DSP app does a great job of speaker-sub integration, better than I did. This is my first venture into powered speakers, so I may keep Metas...
For classical music lovers best amp for large orchestral forces?
Although I put together the setup for jazz and baroque, JC 1 monoblocks driving KEF LS50 Metas augmented with a pair of KEF KC62 subs prove surprisingly credible at portraying Mahler’s 2nd. I’ve been surprised that I prefer the sound with an Ayre ...
Your first step down the "audiophile" path? And sharing mine.
Early to mid 50s, neighbor had Garrard RC 80 changer with GE variable reluctance cartridge, custom amp with separate power supply, and a JBL C34 corner horn.  I was hooked.  I installed an RCA receptacle in my Fender guitar amp for a little RCA 45...
Mixed Brand Pre-Amp Power Amp Pairings that Work
I prefer the sound of an Ayre K-5xeMP preamp with JC 1 monoblocks to that of a JC 2 preamp.  I've yet to try a V-5xe amp with that preamp, but may be doing so soon.  I do use the newer KX-5 Twenty & VX-5 Twenty pairing in another setup. db
Your sub experience: Easy or hard?
I use two Velodyne HGS-15s in the front corners with an SMS-1 acoustic bass manager that makes integrating them pretty easy.  The surprise for me was a third HGS-15 in a back corner that takes LFE from a Bryston SP3.  It's not used for music, but ...
Want to upgrade from my Kef 104/2's
I upgraded from 104/2s to 107/2s. It brought a very large improvement in sound quality. The 107/2s are handsome, and the swivel mid & high frequency unit makes setting toe-in easy.. db
Balanced versus single ended
Everyone of my Ayre manuals recommends balanced as does Parasound for the JC 1 monoblocks, JC 2 preamp, and JC 3 phonostage.  That convinced me. db
Maggie LRS amping question
I just installed a pair of LRS driven by a pair high-current 800-watt Parasound JC 1 monoblocks, and augmented with a pair of KEF KC62 subs.  The sound is impressive. db
KEF celebrates sixty years with the LS60 Wireless
I'm looking forward to the reviews.  Could be a nice alternative to racks of equipment now that I've become a Roon junkie.  I'm using a pair of the amazing KC62s alternately with LS50s and Magnapan LRSs. I suppose I'd use them with the LS60s. db
Balanced v high-pass
I have ISOMAX boxes I bought to use with KEF KUBEs.  I'm running the speakers full range; the subs are set at 45 Hz/24 db.  I installed the LRSs today.  Damn, they sound good when driven by high-current 800-watt Parasound JC 1 monoblocks. Are the...
KEF Blade 2 as replacement for Reference 107/2
I also never compared the R107/2s with the R1s except with a length time gap.  Anyone do a closer comparison and if so what are your thoughts.   db
KEF Blade 2 as replacement for Reference 107/2
yyzsantabarbara -- I'll take you up on that offer. I never actually tried the R107/2s with the Ayre setup, because I had had a poor experience inserting a Bryston high-pass filter between the preamp and amp, and I was admonished not to put anythi...
