Do 1st Order XO's produce a smaller Howdy bombaywalla... your post does confirm the only hesitancy I have regarding 1st or time coherent speakers. Like I said I'm struggling with what is more important to me. Because my listening/HT room is open to a kitchen area I'm not sure if it'...
Do 1st Order XO's produce a smaller Phasecorrect, I was hoping a GMA owner would chime in and comment on the sweet spot of their speakers. I've got my eye squarely fixed on the C-3's. FYI, Srajan Ebaen of 6Moons is suppose to be doing a review on the C-3's in the near future. Thanks ...
Hales T5's Vifa's $ ohm or 6 ohm? Mitchb - This sounds encouraging, indeed. So to recap... you've upgraded the XO and replaced the Vifa tweeter with a Seas Millenium. Did Magisound do the work for you or did you do it yourself? Ball park what are we looking at in terms of cost.Wha...
Opinions on Revel Performa F32? I agree with R3fico. I find all Revels speakers to be on the harsh and fatiguing side. For roughly the same price I found a demo pair of Hales T-5's and they absolutely blew the Revels away. Even the local dealer who sells the entire Revel line-up...
Speakers for loud listening. really loud... There is nothing better than listening to Tool at 122db while they crank out such FM golden oldies as, "Stinkfist", "Hooker With A Penis", "Prison Sex", "Third Eye", "Disgustipated", "Push It" and "Ticks And Leeches". Rock On ya'll!
Dynamic monitors for Audio Refinement Complete One small bit of information regarding the GMA Europas. They are about to be replaced by an ugraded monitor. GMA is replacing the tweeter and upgrading the crossover components. It will be more expensive than the current Europa model because of th...
Hales T5's Vifa's $ ohm or 6 ohm? Mitchb - I have a pair of T-5's and would be interested in upgrading them as an alternative to buying new speakers. Let me know what you decide to do and how it has improved the overall sound. What are you hoping to achieve with the upgrades?
Tidal Acoustics The Tidal Piano and Tsunami are great looking speakers. I would imagine they are pretty pricey.
Active speaker, the future? or another fad? I think Vandersteen has been pretty successful selling their 5 series speakers and they're active. FWIW, the 5A's have blown me away and blown the Revel Salon's I've heard.
Thiel 7.2 or Revel Studios At that price range I'd bypass both of those selections and buy a pair of C3's by Green Mountain Audio. From the people I've talked to who own them, there's nothing under $20k that can touch'em.
Speaker Choice: Narrowed down, need final opinions Not to sound like a broken record, but from what I've heard from audiophiles who own them, the Green Mountain Audio C-3's will out perform anything on your short list.
Abandonning Powered Speakers - Why? Johnmcelfresh - Thank you for the link, it was a very interesting read.
Current Trends in multi thousand dollar speakers Bombaywalla, well said and I appreciate your comments.
Current Trends in multi thousand dollar speakers Newbee, Sean's "cause" is as complex as it is noble. I think in his own mind he believes he is doing us a favor in highlighting the dishonesty posed in speaker marketing advertisements and the lack of integrity found in stereo review magazines.I s...
Current Trends in multi thousand dollar speakers Bombaywalla, yesterday I spent over an hour reading through this thread and the thread Sean linked to entitled "Sealed vs Ported" over on AA. Sean provides some valuable technical insights, but IMO his approach leaves me cold and unsympathetic to ... |
