If boulder is tops what is second tier?
I spent some time with the Boulder phono as well as amps. They are really well built and have an abundance of really nice aluminum. They sound really nice too, but so do a lot of other things that cost a lot less. I think that there are more than ...
Thinking about selling my CD collection = MP3
Nsgarch, it is complicated and can be very frustrating. It is illegal to copy copywritten material for financial gain or to deprive the owner of the material of financial gain, thus incurring damage. The person who buys your used CD does not reimb...
Thinking about selling my CD collection = MP3
If you sell the CD's then legally you cannot play the music you downloaded. Falls into the same category of borrowing CD's to download. I know that this may not bother some, but it is one of the reasons to hold onto the collection. Another would b...
I have posted my system to Virtual System
Nice system, you seem to be of the camp that the source is the most important, nice turntable. What other speakers have you listened to, monitors in particular? I have heard many good things about the silverlines
Upgrade Denon 103 R to Shelter 501 II?
Springbok 10, I have a Nottingham Spacedeck with the Shelter 501 and use the Eastern Electric phono stage and it is a wonderfull combination. I have heard great things about the Denon but not at the 800-1200 level. I did listen to the Sumiko Black...
I could not believe it
I really like my Nottingham Spacedeck. I really really love the on/off switch,(none), which is very easy to get used to. The new tone arm is a dream, very solid, clear and I think a bit more detailed. I paired mine with a Shelter 501 and have been...
How's your music library?
I have only about 700 LP's and 350 CD's, mostly purchased in the past 2 yrs. The finest I have seen is approx. 60,000 LP's and I think he had 4 or 5 CD's. I buy both LP's and CD's as the music is often available on one and not the other. I also tr...
The end of Audio Intelligent ...
If it helps discussions I would really like to continue to use "Frumkin Juice" and do not want to change. I do, however, strongly support your decision to spend more time with family. Knowing how much you have supported and given to others I reall...
int amp for naim cd5x
The Naim integrated amp is a gem, I would recommend giving it a try, though people might be a little more helpful knowing what speakers you are driving.
Shelter 901 with VPI JMW9 Signature
You have a very nice set up, and it sounds like it is working well for you. I also like the shelter. What are you using for a phono amp? I have found that this is a really critical component and can bring a lot to the table. Oh, I think your oblig...
Flat speaker cable
Or get Nordost, 100% Nordost. They used to make a cable for this application, cheaper than their marque cables and can get in bulk at audio shops that carry nordost. I do believe that this cable is still available.
Dynaudio 52se or Focus 110 ?
I found that the 52SE sounded bigger than the 110, larger deeper soundstage, much better bass. I really like the 52SE speaker, I even think it looks good in rosewood. The 140 does everything as well as the 52SE though. I would go with the 52SE ove...
Focal 1027 BE break in
I auditioned a pair of 1027 BE after a few hundred hours of breakin. I also heard them new and at different stages of breakin. I would expect that not only would your bass improve, deeper, tighter, more feel, but your midrange will also flesh out....
Speaker cables for Ref.3a De Capo i & Cayin A-88T
I would recommend trying a pair of Nordost Blue Heaven. They might be a little bright in some systems but the Blue Heaven are the most neutral of the older nordost in the Red Dawn and lower price range.
Tubes for Belles 21A
I just replaced my Belles 21A tubes with NOS Mullards. Guess what was in the Belles from the factory, NOS Mullards. Now that is attention to detail. Great amp, I will stick to the Mullards. The rest of the system is now posted, "A very happy audie...
