Opinions of Reference 3A speakers I have a pair of 3a "La Master Controle" from the 80s that are currently in storage. At the time they were the finest, smoothest speakers I had heard in any home system. They started blowing tweeters, unfortunately. I kept them and moved on to oth...
High Efficiency Speakers Take a listen to Reference 3a (http://www.reference3a.com/) if you can. I had their Master Controle years ago and it remains the finest speaker I've had in my system. Enjoy!
long interconnect cable suggestions? Take a look at Canare for single-ended. I have a 30' run and a neighbor who is a ham radio operator. Zero interference or noise that I can trace to the cables. BTW, the cable is between a McIntosh C-38 pre and a McCormack DNA 1/B. Enjoy!
Dave Brubeck-Take Five I'm not sure about Wright and Take 5, but Joe Morello has a good laugh at the end of Unsquare Dance on Time Further Out. Anyone who can listen to this track without tapping their feet is stone-cold dead!
How should I bi-wire my ML sl3 I too have used a double run of 8TC from a McCormack DNA 1/B to the SL3s.
Best cables for electrostats? I'm driving my ML SL3s with 2 pairs of Kimber 8TC from a McCormack DNA 1/B. The cables were originally chosen as the best sounding with my previous amp/speakers (McCormack DNA 0.5/Mirage 1090i) but as I have incrementally upgraded the system I've ...
Martin Logan SL-3 positioning The manual is online at ML - http://www.martinlogan.com/product_archive_resources.html#sl3
best amp for Martin logan sl-3 I'm using a McCormack DNA 1/Rev B and am quite pleased with the sound. I had upgraded from the DNA .5 and tried the Plinius 100 before setlling on the bigger McCormack. As with all things audio, YMMV and trust your ears.
b&k or Bryston or McCormack? I have a pair of the SL3s and upgraded my McCormack DNA 0.5 to a used McCormack DNA 1/Rev B for about $1600. Within the confines of my room, system, budget, and ears this was the combination that worked for me. The latest Stereophile compares the ...
Matching amps for martinlogan prodigy I'm driving a pair of SL3 with a McCormack DNA 1/Rev B in a room 26*16*7.5. This gives me a conservative 350/side into 4 ohms. If the Prodigy load is similar you can start here, else I have seen the McCormack DNA 2 showing up in a lot of places fo...
Mccormack Micro Amps opinions? I do not know about the micros, but I've just upgraded my DNA 0.5 to a DNA 1/Rev B. and will be selling the .5 shortly. Let me know if you're interested and we can discuss this offline.
Top Ten Speakers of All Time? My current speakers are the Martin-Logan SL3 and I'm most satisfied. The previous all-time champ was La Master Control from 3A (now called Reference 3A). OUTSTANDING monitor with motional-feedback for its powered woofer. They finally blew the twee...
Need some help choosing speakers....... Take a look at the Reference 3A line - if you can find a dealer/importer nearby.
Help....Bi-wiring SL-3's? I, too, have the SL3s biwired with a double run of Kimber 8TC, but mine is to a McCormack DNA1 which has 2 pair of binding posts. Bass seemed tighter when I went from the single, internally biwired run of 8TC to the 2 runs, but I can't say it was ... |
