Review: Sony SCD-XA5400ES CD Player Crimhead, yes, yes, yes, yes and most definately yes! In some aspects it is competitive with several over $5k players. Deep controlled textured bass, full warm mids and extended grain free natural sounding highs. Transparency is exceptional and dy...
The best speaker you ever heard? Our best systems are inextricably linked to an emotionaly formative time/experience. If time travel existed and we were able to go back and listen with our present day ears, we would no doubt be less than thrilled. Bozak sounded better than most t...
Best Amp with Magnepan 3.6's I use a krell 400xi and drive my 3.6Rv's to ear shattering levels with no problems or protests. Treble is brassy and sweet, mids are full and clear and bass is phenomenal. Any amp used with the maggies MUST double it's 8ohm rating into 4ohms. Many...
Pre-Power or Int Amp for Totem Wind I owned the Winds several years ago. Ran them with a Krell 400CX/KCT combo...they sucked up every ounce of juice it could deliver (800w/4ohms). Feed them lot's of good power or don't bother getting them. The Totem integrated was notorious for brea...
Can a Magnepan 1.6 be BI AMPED? Hook them up and play them. Next, start saving for better amplification and cables...they are worthy:O)
This makes no sense, but yet.... Nordost is my least favorite cable because they don't sound remotely like music. For yucks some time, get a monster M1000i to try against them and see what you think. I've found more and more variability in high end cables over the years and few o...
Can a Magnepan 1.6 be BI AMPED? This is a two way speaker, so bi-amping would be a bit silly. Feed it decent power and it will respond in kind. Biwire cables will most likely offer a nice improvement.
Power Cord Compairison - your thoughts? More good answers and as to the effects of the MIT/Transparent PC's, your take on them vs mine may vary slightly but when used appropriately they dull nothing down nor fatten anything up too much. Music seems to have great dynamic range without an...
Speaker jumper cables--a type of sound? Used several and locked in on NBS Omega jumpers...they work well with any high end speaker cables. Amazingly clear, dynamic and extended with accurate tonal transfer. They are supreme conduits for passing on the signal with extreme fidelity.
Upgrading interconnects, where to start I've owned those $20k cables and have I got a find for you! If you can run balanced, try Monster's SP1000 Prolink Mic/Studio Cable. This cable is used by many recording studios and has an incredible dynamic range, warmth, transparency and accurate...
Best interconnect for bass only Morrow Audio Sub 3 cables are fast, tight and deep for a reasonable price...60 day return policy makes trying easy!
Power Cord Compairison - your thoughts? Two excellent responses so far. If you are not already using power conditioning, then I could safely say that a Transparent Powerlink MM and or an MIT Oracle AC 1 or AC 2 would put you into a new realm of musicality. Both address AC line noise/low...
Cable Costs Relative to System Llanger hits on something obvious, but never the less, extremely important. If music is truly the reason behind our obsession with this hobby, then any system that could reasonably reproduce sound accurately would be enough. Of course that is not ...
Passive sub for Magnepan 3.6r? Dual subs are the way to go. Jimburger, have you tried putting your subs on sub-platforms? I put mine on 4" thick solid wood which are brass spiked into my floor, with the subs spiked into the sub-platforms...THAT was a HUGE improvement in sound.....
Passive sub for Magnepan 3.6r? My wife actually thought they were the nicest looking and sounding speakers we ever owned:O) Maybe someday? |
