How do the Magnepan 1.7's sound
A musical instrument like the 1.7's need to be evaluated in an appropriate environment and with commensurate electronics. In addition, playing crap through them at a show in a surround setup does little to convey their potential. They are QR's, 3 ...
Review: Sony SCD-XA5400ES CD Player
Clayx, have you put 400+hrs on the unit yet? The Sony is very revealing of cabling and power issues as well. I use a Transparent PLMM into an MIT Super 20 Duplex with MIT M1.3 Prolines feeding my Krell. AC noise into the Sony and backwash from the...
New CD player required
I think the Sony XA5400ES is a steal and world class for both RB and SACD:O)
Cardas Neutral Ref ICs time to change??
Excellent cables and hard to improve upon really. I have found that MIT's latest offerings afford me results that simply sound more like live music. For me it's not even close. Joe Abrams at Equus Audio can arrange for an in home demo from the MIT...
Transparent Ref XL
Transparent cables are hit or miss depending on the components and they do filter the signal like a brick wall filter does above 20khz, hence they can sound soft and closed in on some systems. MIT does not have in-line filters and offers impedance...
Review: Sony SCD-XA5400ES CD Player
Just recieved a pair of MIT M1.3 Prolines from Joe Abrams at Equus Audio. They are terrific...better than the old Oracle V2.2's I owned last year. Music simply sounds more authentic and accurately voiced.

No and no, but the Accuphase stuff is known for musicality. Nordost is my least favorite cable company based on past experience.
Krell's new direct i-pod connection.
That's great, but I owned the Evolution 402/202/505 combo and found it cold, grey and brittle sounding compared to the FPB stuff. Martin loved the evolution sound as well...everybody hears different:O)

I don't have great phones but it sounds sweet to me!
MIT Z-Cord II PC versus Oyaide Tunami GPX
Here's a tip, use a high quality PC like the Oyaide or Audioquest etc., and get an MIT 20 Super Duplex Outlet for you to plug them into. It will give you the effects of having some of MIT's best power conditioning technology for two of your compon...
The best CD Player for the money
The meridian sound is rather cool and hard vs many other players. Warmth, suppleness and contrast can be had in other comparable players.

Like 5 seconds unless switching from RB to SACD which is a few more seconds, but nothing remotely like the SCD-1 was.
Krell's new direct i-pod connection.
I'm happy for you Eberoth2, perhaps my unit was more defective than I even knew...either one offers remarkable sound for the money. Room acoustics, cabling and system synergy matter more sometimes than any one components particular strengths or we...

Budt, several hundred hours of play time will bring a fuller, more palpable and layered sound.

Disbeliever is right...no problems with sibilance or high frequencies whatsoever. In fact, the high frequency reproduction of the XA5400ES is one of it's outstanding features...pure, grain free and harmonicaly full of life with zero glare or digit...
