How important is EMI and RFI rejection?
Have you tried putting a ferrite core around the power cord and interconnect ends right where it plugs into the equipment? You can try it very inexpensively and will block all RFI from entering your system, no matter which cable you are using.
Multichannel SACD with computer as transport?
Every thread I've seen on this topic says it can't easily be done... meaning the encryption has not been broken. So yeah, electrical engineers with DSD chip knowledge and computer modding skills can get it. But there is no way I've heard of to jus...
How important is EMI and RFI rejection?
Not sure there is a technical measurement for blackness :) I was just responding to the original question and when I see stuff like: "Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), affects a cable directly in the audio range" it's just flat out wrong.I've be...
How important is EMI and RFI rejection?
NBS definitions of EMI and RFI are wrong. Clearly RFI is due to Radio Frequencies Interference which we cannot hear. EMI does come from inductive coupling, as I also said, which is most likely 60 cycle hum in the US, and you can hear it.Perhaps NB...
Integrated Amp - Looking to replace my amp & pre
I've owned a Luxman L5 integrated (the old Luxman stuff :)for 30 years. Used it as my main rig when I was younger, bedroom system when older, and now I use it to drive my surround sound speakers while my MF separates drive the mains. Never, ever, ...
How important is EMI and RFI rejection?
EMI is usually 60 cycle hum that is picked up from power cords into your audio components. This is usually fixed by moving the power cord away from the component that is picking up the hum. Another "trick" is to make sure interconnects are not to ...
CD players and HDMI
Sony SCD-xa5400es has two channel analog and HDMI for MCH (or 2CH if you want). If you just want a CD transport the Oppo 980 universal player is the cost effective way to go for audio over HDMI.
Multichannel SACD with computer as transport?
Highly doubt it.Much better chance of making it work with BR.
Can you point me to CDs with awesome stage?
Good call on the QSound discs for awesome staging! I looked at their list of supported albums and the only one on the list I owned is Madona's Immaculate Collection (don't ask). Plopped it into the CDP and WOW, it has incredibly wide & deep so...

Eldarford - I never worry about it 'cause I only buy pure :)Me thinks you're talking about the process of making alcohol and I'm talking about the process of marketing alcohol. I buy pure to be assured there is no difference between the two.

OK Scott, I looked at your system and you don't need modding advice from me :) Nice kit and some great mods, too. Good luck making it all fit cause I'm sure it sounds awesome!
Cleaning cd lens ?
You're welcome, but 70% is not pure and I wouldn't trust their definition of "water" (yes I'm a cynic from way back :). Use what you want, but I have only ever used pure isopropyl (which you generally have to ask for) or pure acetone, which you ca...

Bending the leads of a resistor will not damage it as long as you apply common sense force. Another space saving orientation is to use vertical rather than horizontal space. This is done by leaving one lead straight and pushing it through the circ...
Cleaning cd lens ?
Suggest you use pure acetone instead of rubbing or isopropyl alcohol because of this definition:"Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, USP / B.P. contains 68-99% of isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) by volume, the remainder consisting of water, with or without...
