Favorite Obscure Rock Song Brian Eno "Babie's on Fire" Not very inviting but features Robert Fripp plays the most blistering guitar solo I have ever heard.
Newer Blues Artists or Recordings Not new but I have a Mighty Sam McClain "Keep on Moving" this. Was on an audiophile record label, but I can't remember. Soulful, tuneful and dynamicly recorded. May not be a mixdown.
What affects front to back depth in room/ system? I don't think this can be oversimplified. It is a combination of things. * speaker placement * room treatment *speaker isolation * recording styles or techniques *cabling *music service *low noise in signal I believe it is a combination...
Ribbon cable inside amplifiers I think A tube preamp does not go through tubes like an amp. There are lots of nice tube preamps. The Pass would be nice. I am using a passive so the idea is no change to the signal.
Ribbon cable inside amplifiers @audphile1 my pass is about 3 yrs old. It was a demo, but brand new condition. I miss Reno Hi Fi. It took about a week to break in and it takes an hour to fully warm up. I think it has a very smooth, accurate, neutral and nice bass. I am set, ...
Ribbon cable inside amplifiers Look at the binding posts on a Pass. That will tell you how they are built. All pass amps are overbuilt. Mine is rated at 25W Class A, and the output transistors are rated for 500 watts(approx). Couple that with heavy construction and heat sin...
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K I have $3k Crites with 2 subs. 100dB. Pass XA25. Don't knock it, this system is really enjoyable. It will play as loud as you ever want, yet sound good at 70 dB. You can feel the bass even at lower volumes. These speakers sound good by themsel...
Jim Winey (Magnepan) has passed away. Sorry to hear this. Prayers and blessings to his family. Groundbreaking design. I must admit these don't fit in a dorm room very well. We had a set of single panel ones, can't remember model number. I was around these alot about 10 years but ...
What use to burn in power cords? If you want to break it in, why not just play music. Seems to take awhile even if I am just plugging and unplugging interconnects, cords, speaker cables it takes awhile for everything to get back to the same sound but it's not that dramatic.
Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice I think efficient speakers are the way to go. This gives you so much flexibility with amps. Many of these speakers listed need big amps, ones that double to 2 ohms. Based on design these are all worth looking at Volti Fleetwood Joseph Audio. T...
*DAC @navyachts I tried low cost options. Until recently, there were so many people who said it doesnt matter, so I wanted to try the low cost option in case these changes didn’t work. You could spend multiple times more. I think noise is a really big...
*DAC This is what helped my system. I'm sure you have done some of these things. I went for low cost options that ended up paying off. Dedicated power line or if you use lots of power. EMI/RFI filter on incoming power EMI/RFI on router from intern...
Preamp Gain issues with high efficiency speakers I’m doing this from memory...but. The Hattor has the same Vc but you can add Op amps and have 0, 3 or 6 dB gain and the Hattor has a tube buffer option. Add that all up and about 4k if I remember correctly. Anyway, I cheat JK. I only use my mains...
Eversolo a6 and Lampizator Oh yes, the computer is noisy. Innuous, Lumin, aurilac, Aurender all are good choices for streamers. Then, it is the software. Everybody is getting better with software. Power supply upgrade on a U2Mini is available and would kick it up a notc...
Preamp Gain issues with high efficiency speakers I bought hi eff speakers, 100 db. Digital volume on the Bluesound was terrible. My old preamp didn't work I have a Khozmo with Pass XA25. It takes 1.25V to get full output on my amp. Input sensitivity is 50k ohms. I have no issues. Khozmo... |
