The receiver was my intro to HiFi! What say you?
Sony V-Fet 125W can't remember the model.  I blew it up twice but it sounded good.  I had a Leach DIY Class A that was really good after that.
How Is This Possible? Must be Counterfeits
Is the "Nordost" wire sold in bulk?  The banana plugs and spades sure are.  I have seen some pretty nice rolls of wire available.  So, if this is true, is it infringement?
if you had this system, what would you do to make it sound the best you can
Here are some easy things Walk around the room.  Listen for certain frequencies changing volumes.  If you hear nulls or peaks, sound treatment. If your system has been as is for a while, take all the interconnects and speaker wire apart and clea...
Effect of Internet Service Quality on Streaming?
I have recently been through a refresher coarse, so to speak. We had issues with cable TV., so we are streaming TV now. I had previously been streaming over 4 years.  Here are a few items I found out. -it takes 1Mb to stream music -each tv uses ...
Bananas rule, spades drool. End of discussion.
Amen to that.  I have been dealing with these while. My speaker terminals are up high.  I had bananas bend at the shrink wrap from the weight of the cables so sent them back and had spades put on them.  Wont stay tight.  I found some right angle b...
Smaller plug-in AC Purifiers -- Shunyata, iFi, Puron...something else? What do you like?
Put a Furman Elite 15i on my system.  Helped the sound.  Then I went on a mission around the house and plugged the chargers and lamps, etc into Furman PST8.  Electrical noise goes either direction in the wiring but still the idea of blocking it wi...
Yes, cables do make a difference -- regardless of price...
We are not welding connections together.  It is important to make good contact between cable and component.  If we look under a microscope we need all the help we can g e t.  We clean up our signal at the source.  Then noise can be reintroduced at...
Best Covers
Lay Down Sally Jerry Garcia Band "Under the Boardwalk" Tom Tom Club
Favorite Obscure Rock Song
Brian Eno "Babie's on Fire"  Not very inviting but features Robert Fripp plays the most blistering guitar solo I have ever heard.
Newer Blues Artists or Recordings
Not new but I  have a Mighty Sam McClain "Keep on Moving"  this. Was on an audiophile record label, but I can't remember.  Soulful, tuneful and dynamicly recorded.  May not be a mixdown.
What affects front to back depth in room/ system?
I don't think this can be oversimplified. It is a combination  of things.  * speaker placement * room treatment *speaker isolation * recording styles or techniques *cabling *music service  *low noise in signal I believe it is a combination...
Ribbon cable inside amplifiers
I think A tube preamp does not go through tubes like an amp.   There are lots of nice tube preamps.  The Pass would be nice. I am using a passive so the idea is no change to the signal.
Ribbon cable inside amplifiers
@audphile1 my pass is about 3 yrs old.  It was a demo, but brand new condition.  I miss Reno Hi Fi. It took about a week to break in and it takes an hour to fully warm up.  I think it has a very smooth, accurate, neutral and nice bass.  I am set, ...
Ribbon cable inside amplifiers
Look at the binding posts on a Pass.  That will tell you how they are built.  All pass amps are overbuilt.  Mine is rated at 25W Class A, and the output transistors are rated for 500 watts(approx).  Couple that with heavy construction and heat sin...
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K
I have $3k Crites with 2 subs.  100dB.  Pass XA25. Don't knock it, this system is really enjoyable.  It will play as loud as you ever want, yet sound good at 70 dB.  You can feel the bass even at lower volumes. These speakers sound good by themsel...
