Where do you go after a BlueSound Node 2i?
I have the Node 2i.  I added a Topping D90 and am amazed by the accuracy, sound stage and detail.  They now have a D90 with MQA as an option.  I also ran a Cat 6 to the 2i and bought a power cord.  The 2i interface isn't perfect but I have learned...
Integrated Amp $1200 or less
I have the Node 2i.  When I added a Topping D90 @ $630 the improvements were not subtle.  Better accuracy, sound stage, bass; basically all aspects of my sound were improved.  Topping also has a volume control and I plug it directly into my power ...
What could cause this amp to fail?
I will never forget when I was listening to a pair of $30K Sonus Faber speakers driven by $35K Mac monoblocks.  I being a wood worker was fascinated by the wood work on the speakers.  I walked up to them to look at the inlays and veneers.  My foot...
I can prove your room is bad
I rekindled my hobby.  I first of all got it all hooked up.  A buzz in the preamp.  Got rid of it.  Bought a new amp.  Plugged my new streamer right into it.  Walla!  It worked.  Then bought new speakers.  Oh what a chore to set up.  Large Crites ...
In Defense of Audiophiles, Bose, Pass, Toole and Science
It is great to have measurements to a certain extent.  However some obvious examples of how it is used are all over the place:Pass Labs XA30.8:  Spec sheet says 30 watts.  Read the measurements and it puts out 6 X as much watts.  All of a sudden a...
Great country recording
Man, some of this takes me back to my childhood.  Sometimes we would listen to The Grand Old Opry over our old console radio.  My mom loved Hank Williams, The Masters Family(more gospel), The Carter Family, Charlie Pride, Porter Waggoner, Buck Owe...
10K system
Lots of variables here.   I personally use a Bluesound Node 2i streamer($420 refurbished) and a Topping D90($700). The Topping and my music service both have volume control so I don't use a pre amp. I do not have a turntable.  That is several thou...
What are you streaming tonight?
Zhu various songs.  Such good sound quality.
Break in time that extends to months or maybe even years!!
I could be crazy but part of it is our ears getting used to what we are listening to.  All the stuff I bought was broken in before I played it  It is best to work out the woofer a bit to loosen it up.  It's all about the bass, that bass.
Wow an old album that rocked your world
Kraftwerk: several albums/tracks. Their remastered versions are sonically perfect.Tommy James and the Shondells: Crystal Blue Persuasion Hammond, harmonies, acoustic guitar, echo. Ahead of it’s time? Peter Gabriel: "So" may not qualify as being ol...
Best bookshelf loudspeakers under 10,000 for the pair
I heard the $7K Paradigm Persona(I think) on stands sounded really smooth, detailed, neutral and had good bass for their size. Actually they stopped me in my tracks.
Subwoofers - Front Firing or Down Firing - Which Sounds Best?
I have had two rear firing subs placed between my speakers for years.  As I started more critical listening, I noticed dips.  I purchased corner bass traps.  This really evened out the response.  Then I talked to GIK and have purchased bass traps ...
Religious music for less than devout
Elvis Complete Gospel Recordings.  Quite good sound and oh can he sing or did you already know that. There was also "I Saw the Light" that my mom and I used to sing together.  I think it was Hank Williams.  I grew up with this stuff.  Lots of Maste...
Another streaming newbie
I didn't know squat a few months ago and didn't even know how to ask the questions.  So I ended up buying a Node 2I refurbished for 420 and a Topping D90 for 630. Both the topping and the bluesound app have volume control so I plug the DAC directl...
Most recordings you own by a single artist, group, or composer
Brian Eno, King Crimson, Beatles, Peter Gabriel.  My son introduced me to Grandmaster Flash and Dr. Dre.  Need to branch out from there.  #oldmendodorapnhiphop
